Popular actress, politician and wife of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan today turns 62.
Born in 1948, Jayaji as she is fondly called, made her big screen debut in Satyajit Ray’s Mahanagar at the young age of 15. But the role that got her instant fame was for her lively performance in Guddi. Many films and marriage (on June 3rd 1973) to a megastar followed.
Soon she retired from films and focused entirely on raising her kids – Shwetha and Abhishek. In 1988 she made a comeback with Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa and has since starred in many films against the biggest of stars in Fiza, Kal Ho Na Ho and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum.
Jaya was last seen introducing the cast and crew during the opening credits of her home-production Paa.
