Which young star film are you looking forward to in 2016?

2015 proved to be a turning point in the careers of two promising future stars, Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh, who were seen in mega-grossers like Bajirao Mastani, Dilwale and ABCD 2.

On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor, touted as the most promising actor of his generation, had the worse year of his career when Bombay Velvet didn’t even manage a face-saving opening at the box office. A film made on a budget of 100 crore plus, finished with lifetime business of Rs 24 crore. All eyes were then on Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha, a film also starring Deepika Padukone in the lead. The result was better compared to a disaster like Bombay Velvet, but Tamasha was a box office failure nonetheless.

Sushant Singh Rajput and Sidharth Malhotra also delivered the biggest disappointments of their careers, as the audience rejected Detective Byomkesh Bakshi and Brothers.

Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor, who was riding high on the success of Gunday and 2 States, opened the year with Tevar when PK was still going strong at the box office. After a decent weekend, Tevar didn’t sustain and eventually failed at the box office.

As for Shahid Kapoor, 2016 was no different from the rest of his career. Almost all his films hold promise, but very few deliver.

2016 will be a big year for all the actors that we just mentioned. Varun Dhawan returns with Dishoom, Ranveer Singh will be seen in Aditya Chopra’s directorial venture Befikre, Ranbir Kapoor has Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Anurag Basu’s much-delayed Jagga Jasoos.

Arjun will be seen in Half Girlfriend and R.Balki’s Ki and Ka. Aditya Roy Kapur, who makes a comeback after the disastrous Daawat-e-Ishq, makes a comeback with Fitoor. Shahid’s big release for 2016 will be Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon and Udta Punjab.

Sidharth Malhotra has Kapoor & Sons and Baar Baar Dekho.

Ramesh Taurani’s son Girish returns after 2013’s Ramaiya Vastavaiya in a film titled Loveshhuda. Sushant has MS Dhoni biopic.

  • Upcoming Movies of 2016—
    1. Jagga Jasoos(RANBIR),
    2. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil(RANBIR),
    3. Dishoom(JOHN & VARUN),
    4. Befikre(RANVEER),
    5. MS Dhoni Biopic(SUSHANT)…..

  • @Satyajit oh really??? That’s why he needs #Kjo to produce his each and every film??? And please don’t compare him with #SRK and #Hrithik . Just because he’s not a star kid doesn’t make him the self-made actor. And how many awards he got for his rowdy look in #EkVillain . Look doesn’t matter over all; Acting does

  • Found difficult to pick 5 movies out of that lot. My top 3 are Rangoon, Udta Punjab and Dhoni biopic. Picked Befikre and Dishoom as 4th and 5th.

  • @challa right all point is correct and yeah varun and abcd2 was pathetic
i think audience not dbb its genre and ff7 storm kamaal karega wo

  • It is really surprising Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi has more votes than any of Arjun Kapoor’s movie and even Udta Punjab of Shahid and Jagga Jasos of Ranbir…1 film old and really doing well in polls…It is going to be 3-way race between Ranveer, Ranbir and Varun. Ranveer has higher chances of scoring biggest grosser with Befikre as Yrf especially Adi will try everything and use all his pull to get max screens. Dharma will also try and get as many screens as possible.

Fitoor and Ki and Ka will definitely be washouts. Arjun is one youngistaan actor who has literally no fan following. Even 2 states success will be attributed to Chetan Bhagat, Alia and songs…His true starpower is seen by movies like Tevar, Finding Fanny…Ki and Ka will barely cross 50…Sooraj Pancholi is also a non starter. Even after Salman pushing him he could not cross Tiger’s film…The budget was also on higher side…

Ranbir will have a mixed year. Jagga Jasoos unless it receives positive reviews chances are it will be a bombay velvet…But Hirani sir will make sure he comes back with Sanju Baba biopic as Sanjay Dutt still has fans and quite a fan following…Not pull like he had 10 years back but Sanjay Dutt as a topic can get him a good opening to Ranbir..

  • I like Varun but he is making wrong choices.

ABCD was a dance based movie and would have worked with anyone. He din’t add any value to it.
In Dilwale, he was a side flick
In Dhishoom, he’ll share it with John

In wish to maintain 100% success rate, he is getting ultra safe. I hope, he does not become a Saif doing second leads half his life.

  • Befikre- bcz I read that it’s Adi Chopra’s most interesting script .. And it’s clashing with Amir Khans’s Dangal …
