Do charity and do it directly, suggests actor Salman Khan, who contributes to various social activities through his charitable organisation Being Human.
Salman, 47, was present Wednesday at the launch of new campaign The Little Hearts, which aims at curing 500 children suffering from heart ailments. Being Human has joined hands with the Fortis Foundation for the initiative.
“Everybody does charity, but not everybody likes to talk about it. Some may do it for personal benefits, to stay in the limelight or others might do it genuinely. According to me, you may do charity for any reason, but do it anyways. No matter what the intention is,” Salman told reporters here.
Under the programme, 42 children have already been treated and eight are currently hospitalised in Fortis.
When it comes to donation, the “Dabangg” star feels it’s even better to do it first hand.
“Rather than going and giving money to a place where you don’t know how it will be utilised, it is better to make direct charity like funding a child’s education. At least you can see the results yourself,” he said.
The actor also launched a Being Human store in the hospital, which has clothing line for men and children.

You need a spark to ignite social change, if politicians cant do it then god forbid we go to people like you who say “Yeah do it but do it so quietly as not to make people aware of social change…!”

I really really despise Srk (mostly coz of his fans) but for his charity work he is a Great Guy coz those who need a helping hand dont care as much as you do where that helping hand comes from. Anyway I dont want to repeat what I just said on the other article but just do yourself a favour and ask to go on SMJ season 2 and tell Aamir and the whole world what really is your problem with him and charity. It be nice to put a hideous face to the disgusting comments you make- total freak show it will be I bet but you need to get something of your chest so knock yourself out whilst boring us all with your tale of woes on Aamirs show…! :-(
@Navin. Do u mean social awareness ?. Yes i heard, infact so many times. So many cricket star, hollywood stars, etc etc etc etc peoples do charity. But only salman concerned about social awareness. Salman ki jai ho.
@hrithik. Did u got inspired by salmans charity ? Ur answer would be YES. But do any salman fan really do charity ? NO. Salman boast off charity work just to better his image, now he felt it’s working BIG TIME. So he is contuining, thats it.
