Vote: 5th biggest star in Bollywood

While the Top 4 stars in Bollywood are Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar; who has the next most box office pull? Vote below

Shahid Kapoor – It all started with Sooraj Barjatya’s Vivaah which was a huge box office blockbuster in India. Then came the multi-starrer Fool n Final which failed to garner a face saving opening. Jab We Met with Kareena was a super-hit while Kismat Konnection did reasonably well. This year, Kaminey opened to a bumper response and has managed a good first week total although the film didn’t release in Mumbai and Pune.

Saif Ali Khan – Both of Saif Ali Khan’s last two movies, Race and Love Aaj Kal, have broken opening week box office records. Love Aaj Kal is not just the biggest opener of 2009, but is also by far the biggest money spoinner.

Salman Khan – Last couple of years have been disastrous for Salman Khan, with his last blockbuster being Partner with Govinda. His upcoming release, Wanted, has created immense buzz could it be the his much-wanted HIT?

  • Sudeep u are totaly good person and honest at the same time, who ever read all of your comment you just look similar with your favourite actor. I think u have justice in your mine. Aamir, Shah rukh, Akshay, Hritik, Salman. The list is good, despite being Akshay kumar fans but u didnt mention him as no1. I like your comment and respect it. Keep moving Sudeep all the best.

  • I think Shahid really deserves the no.5th spot after Amir, SRK, Hrithik and Akshay. Saif is 6th according to me and Salman should be no.7 even though he hasn’t been able to give a hit for the last 2 years.

  • shahid kapoor deserves to b in top 5 coz hez da besttttttttt nd is superbbbb actor ……..nd in kaminey he totallyy rocked man….

  • Usman Solo :Thnks friend….THnks for saying tht…….

Fathiya:But In bollywood, Wht matter is box office result….Might be some film which flop but also get award..
Most ,if movie is good but y doesnot it get hit …To get hit,As many people came to c movie, movie will be hit….But Sometime, promotion of movie create hype n lot people get n watch and movie become hit but it doesnot happen always…….But still In bollywood movie,it all matter is box office result…..If it was not consider then today top actor would have been N.shah,Vinaya pathak,Ranvir shorey, anupum kher……and other who actor well n get applod from critics…but Most of their movie will be flop… We have to accept tht

  • Sudeep: yeah.. what matters for the producers, distributers, filmmakers is the “income”.. that’s business as u are aware.. as I said many times.. sometimes some cheap products become popular and people buy them.. but that doesn’t make the product good in quality, and sometimes some good quality expensive products don’t.. and that also doesn’t mean that the product have some flaws, or it’s a bad one.. it’s just business.. some filmmakers said that they (themselves) don’t know the main reason for some movies to be hit or flop! they don’t know what makes any movie a successful one or what makes it fail.

There4 dear Sudeep.. why do u all bother about the box office..movie rating, income, labla.. we, as audiences pay our ticket and go and watch any movie to enjoy it.. whether we enjoyed it or we didn’t.. it doesn’t matter.. we’re not the losers.. we’re not the filmmakers.. if we didn’t like a movie we just wasted 2-3 hours at the cinema as well as the ticket we paid for.. that’s all.. but it matters for those who produced the movie.. why should we bother about all that?! If we do.. we’re just wasting our time.. yeah ofcourse the actors in the leading roles will be famous if the movie did work at the box office, will be popular or vice versa..but why should we care? It happens also that we value a hero or a heroine for some art movies, not for the commercial movies e.g. Nandita Das.. she’s a very good actress, Rajiv from the movie (Aamir) is also a talented actor but.. did their movie work at the box office like those commercial ones?! We appreciate the talent and the script of any movie but not how many crores it did at the box office!

The money will not go into our pockets or vice versa!!

  • hey u all.. top 5 actor not only for me for the whole world…

    1. Shahrukh Khan (The King of bollywood)
    2. Hrithik Roshan
    3. Amir Khan
    4. Akshay kumar
    5. Shahid Kapoor

saif and salman:in position no. 6 and 7

  • Fathiya:Yes ,wht u say is right but Most of us(people) are not interested in non commercial movie….India is not a developed country .different people there have different opinion. If Movie is non commercial, there is less chance eventhough script n story is good. For exam-sankar city, luck by chance, dostana, marathi which got great review n which r very good movie but most of them were flop n dostana too was average in india…..People of mumbai, delhi etc r only areas where these kind of movie make some money but beside them all other areas people c masala, commercial movie……..May be u donot like but still fact is this most of bollywood movie maker doesnot think abt the story n how to developed good movie…but remain fact how to entertain the audience

  • mmm for me shahid kapoor …coz after i watched kaminey …i was like is tat shahid 0.0
he acted like a big star ..like SRK and Aamir khan etc…
and btw..after watching kaminey he isn’t the chocolate boy image any more..he can sign up for big films like SRK , Aamir and akshay kumar …guys i notice this cute pie in jab we met..he was mind blowing ..and the movie was super hit !!!!!!!!
for me ..its better than om shani om …wiz all respects for SRK ..but i didn’t like it ..sorry 0.o
so .guys after kaminey …all his fans love him more and more…
and now ..his super hit flim wiz Rani ..Dil bole hadippa ^_^
can’t wait …all i can say ..shahid was always saying to the big stars senior ..hehe but not any more coz he is senior now …the super star ..all the best for him …hope he get all the wards for kaminey ^_^

  • Sudeep, some of your comments are really very interesting.. Some are completely biased :) Keep it up mate, love reading what you write.

  • Well Fathiya, Sudeep is right here………… I also think that the people living in small villages and small cities of India have only one cheap entertainment that they can afford in one week and that is to watch a movie. They are not willing to spend even those 50 bugs to watch a non-commercial movie as they have so many sorrows in their daily life to look out for so why do they waste their money which is worth good for them for a movie full of good acts and sorrows?? Why don’t they go out for a movie full of fun and masala so they can share some cherish moments with their family??

Most of the people in our countries like India and Pakistan are leading very tough life now a days so they don’t want to see those hard to swallow acts in the movies as they just go out for fun……

I really defend Sudeep here as we should not always think about ourselves, what we like and what we don’t like?? And Fathiya believe it or not, Slaman is very famous in these kinda places. He has big fan following there as he does most of his movies to just entertain those people…… And I will not be shocked to see Salman getting back to top 5 after these three releases……. But for the time being it is surely Shahid who is at no. 5th spot….

    Fahad….

  • Fahad: I already talked and explained my points 100 of times on this website about movies & ratings as well as the box office collections.. so I don’t want to repeat myself again and again.. but to explain it in short I’ve to give u some example for what I mentioned already.. that the rating for movies is just different from one place to another.. from one country to another.. from one nation to another.. If in small village ppl loves masala and only big movies, entertainng ones so it’s different in other countries.. there4 we can’t say about any movie which hv different ratings in different countries that the movie was bad or was excellent.. that’s my point.. but ppl here don’t get me and never understand what I say! the big example is Slumdog Millionaire which was rated as average movie in India but was a blockbuster movie allover the world! as u know..it won 8 oscar awards!! The movie Dostana was an average movie in India.. but was a super hit in US, Europe & Gulf Arabia.. KKHH was a hit in india but was a blockbuster in Indonesia.. it was a huge hit in indonesia and more than DDLJ.
Some more examples: Golmaal returns & JTYJN were super hit movies in India but they were not in our country..they showed in our theatre only for 2 weeks but Bachan Aeh Hasino which was a semi hit in india worked for almost 2 months in our cinemas.

All the members in my family loved Umrao Jaan but no one loved it in India.. different ppl with different tastes.. with different opinions & evaluation… with different movie ratings.. with different box office collections.. but the question is: which one is considered to be good and which one is considered to be bad?? that depends on the nation of each country and their circumstances.

So sitting and calculating how much crores each movie did will not give u guys any result.. because a specific movie could do a 100 crores in india and could be a blockbuster but not in overseas countries and vice versa!

  • Fathiya:I was saying same thing….Different people have different opinion…..But u must understand tht Hit doesnot happen only by having big publicity of the movie. Many people watch movie which make a movie hit…THt mean majority of people like the movie n become hit………..As in your country , In my opinion, crap movie works …Similarly…Ur opinion will be different for sure……U may say movie we watch is crap……….Tht is wht difference in Western society n normal society………. But I m also from modern society…
There is big different in Bollywood n hollywood is the simple reason which i have said time n again.
Most of bollywood director want to entertain Audience n Think Movies as a bussiness where they only want is loss. But In hollywood ,it is just vice versa.

  • O.K just chill guyz………Why the hell are we fighting on this issue???? What are we going to get from it??? Let the directors do their job as they are very professional now a days…. In my opinion, each and every movie is worth a watch because these guyz do a lot of hard work to make a movie…… They spend a lot of time without their family to entertain us in a movie…. So, Let us just stop criticizing any movie….. Umrao Jaan was the best movie i have ever watched and Aish is the best actress in this world … You have won it Fathiya but please stop convincing as you can’t convince anyone because every one has his/her own taste…..

By the way from which part of the world you belong Fathiya????

  • Fahad: I’m from Bahrain, Gulf Arabia, I’m Persian and not Arab.. and I’m not trying to convince anyone that Aish or Umrao Jaan r the best.. no.. we’re just discussing here a specific subject and it would lead us into another one.. u didn’t love Umrao Jaan and u said that u watched it for 30 minutes.. I would recommend that u watch it all on a dvd and then compare it with the old one.. if u didn’t like it.. so let it be.. it’s your taste, can’t force u over it.. but I’m sure that u will change yr mind about Aish after watching her movie Provoked.

Sudeep: no.. you never said that.. u ppl only measure the good from bad by “calculating”.. how much each movie did at the box office.. if a brilliant movie such as “Saawriya” as an example only, didn’t do well although the director stated that it’s his best movie and dispite the box office collection, so that doesn’t mean that the movie was crap.. but it’s the audience taste.. just that.. that’s the reason.

well..well.. Sudeep.. u can’t say that we love some crap.. why not your people?!! As I said.. u can’t say that a specific movie did in india around 200 of crores so that would indicate that the movie is excellent.. see the population first.. as well as their taste.. it could do in some small cities around 70crores coz of lower no. of population there.. it could do only 40 crores in some villages.. also according to the population with the same desire for certain movies.. and the same movie could do only 1 crores in some cities of Gulf Arabia, Middle East or some western country, with different population and with different tastes for movies.

So u can’t say that we love crap.. because we too love comedy as well as commercial ones, as well as some deep serious movies.. but our taste is just different than yours.. we value movies “differently” so don’t think that u r so smart!!

  • Fathiya:Firstly,i m not from india n not an indian….I m from nepal n am nepali….U said sawariya is good movie..thts ur opinion. If it was good then y not it do well ,even word of mouth for this movie was poor…Family member were also bore while watching this movie….If u like some movie ,tht doesnot mean all have to like it…If all liked it y not it collect good amt of movie then…..

U misunderstand my comment….I said,i might say the movie u watch is crap n u may say movie which i watch is crap….It happens for all………

  • Sudeep: when did I say that a romantic movie like Saawariya is good for a family to watch?! And why the hell some ppl think that filmmakers should not do these kind of movies because it’s not good for families or kids to watch?! Youth people who fall in love, some Aashiq, lovers, want to see these kind of romance.. innocent love stories.. they watch them and they do enjoy them specially girls, ladies. When the movie Saawariya was released, I used to read all and every single comment posted about the movie by the commentators on SLB website as well as some other websites.. there were 100’s of comments by some young girls and boys which praised the movie and found it excellent, interesting ( if u didn’t!) but unfortunately.. number of romantic ppl in this world are less there4 they won’t do well at the box office.. this movie, as well as some others e.g. Sohny Mahiwal & Heer Ranja didn’t do well at the box office in india because they meant for romantic people to watch.. not for everyone and not for some family members to watch.. can u tell me Sudeep.. how can someone who never fell in love.. love never knocked his doors.. his heart.. how does he know or understand the meaning of love..the meaning of these kind of movies?! How can someone who’s suffering daily, living a very tough life, a poor man or a poor woman who r daily searching for their food, living a hard life would understand these kind of movies..enjoy them, taste them or value them?! It won’t and they’re also wrong in picking up such a movie to watch!! what’s good for them only some entertainment funny and full masala movies.

Another example: how can a business man.. a materialistic man or woman who think only about their career or money, etc. enjoy these kind of movies?!! they – for sure – will find them: crap.. bakhwas.. meaningless movies, unlike the romantic people who will fall in love with these movies and would watch them more than 10 times.

Do u know what is the big mistake which lots of people do? The big mistake they do is while going to cinema or renting some movies.. they pick up the wrong one which is not good for them to watch?! If some ppl love action or comedy or horror and hate romantic movies which r good only for lovers to watch.. so why do they pick them up and watch them?

  • Hey Fathiya and Sudeep: Why do you guyz take these things seriously? It’s a general discussion. We are not here to fight each other. We are just here to comment. That’s it…. And Fathiya, You may have found some good comments about Saawariya on the websites but that doesn’t mean that all the lovers liked Saawariya… I have some good friends who are in love but they didn’t like the movie at all. And believe it or not My father liked it… So we can’t differentiate that who liked and who didn’t… Some family members might have liked this movie but some might not…. And by the way was it really a romantic movie??? The girl wasn’t in love with the guy so what the hell was going on???? She should have avoided him from the day 1 when she met him and waited for her lover to come back…. Why was she used to come to him daily??? What was the motive basically??????

    I still don’t get it….

  • Fathiya:U admitt tht people need entertaining movie Whether there is logic or illogic, they donot care…They only want entertainment because of their daily life prb.

Fahad:I m not fighting or fathiya is also not fighting..We all are discussing on matter….I m not here to fight ,If we donot put our comment n this site may just boring n boring……This is done all for the welfare of this site n To know other people feeling abt wht….Keep rocking bro……i have no issue

  • Fahad.. I wil tell u why she didn’t admit to Ranbir that she’s waiting for her lover to come back.. because Salman told her in the movie that it’d be very hard for her to live with him his tough life (was he a terrorist, was he a killer, was he.. I don’t know.. that was a bit misterious in the movie) there4 he leaves her and she waits for him with the hope that he’ll come back.. when a girl is a bit desperate and thinks he might not fulfill his promise, and a young good guy comes in her life again, takes her hands and a great care of her, express his love for her.. so it’s also difficult for any woman to avoid him or ignore him.. she took him as a friend to forget her pain & her sorrow. that would relief her pain from just “waiting” and she tried to love him back, she gave herself another chance to forget the man who came into her life and vanished.. but she couldn’t let herself loving Ranbir.. feeling the guilt that she’s betraying her lover was the only reason for her not to fall in another relationship with Ranbir.. and thinking that her 1st love might come back again that bothered her througout the movie.. lots of girls do this because a chance would come again but if she closes her doors and never let anyone knock it.. then she’ll be the loser! she might lose the 1st lover and the 2nd love too, and when Salman was back.. so she ran into his arms.

While reading some ppl’s comments.. they said that they didn’t like the ending.. they wanted a happy ending and felt bad for Ranbir as she broke his heart.. but we can’t live in fantasy.. that’s a fact which happened to thousands of boys and girls.. that happens always in our life.. but the beauty of the movie was the music, the great love songs with the special effects, with the colours.. it was like a “portrait” like a beautiful painting and it was (only) a cinema movie.. to watch it on a big screen.. whoever didn’t watch Saawariya in cinema.. I never recommend them to watch it on a dvd.. they won’t enjoy it.

My point Fahad is not convincing ppl that the movie which I loved must be good for them.. you’re new on this website and I’ve been posting my comments for quite a long time.. I’m old on this website.. almost 2 years or more.. can’t remember.. what I was always trying to explain to everyone here is that the ratings for movies: Blockbuster, super hit, hit, semi hit, average, flop, disaster would never indicate or it means that any of these movies are: outstanding, excellect, very good, good, poor, bad.. that’s my point.. to each is his own, and people are just different in their characters, in their thinking and loving movies.. if I love the colour white.. so some others love the colour red, green.. and if u love green or orange.. that doesn’t mean that these colour are bad colours and mine is the best.. I’ve repeated these sentences already more than 10 times on this website but I’m repeating these lines for you only Fahad, as u r new on this website.

  • Fathiya: Thanks for explaining “Saawariya” but I still find it very old and strange. Now a days, life has become so fast that nobody has time to wait.. Like in LAK, Saif and Deepika threw a break up party and really today people are like that… They don’t care if they are having a break-up or link-up with some one else…. You can also find these kinda things in Bollywood now like Priyanka and Herman broke-up early but they are doing a film together again.. How professional they have become now a days? they don’t bother if they were ex-boy friends or Girlfriends…. But before Like Amitabh and Rekha, they haven’t done a single film together after their break-up yet………So things have changed now and i really find it faked… It is nearly impossible to find a girl like her in today’s life who keeps on waiting for a man whom she doesn’t even know exactly that what he does and whether he will really come back in her life or not???… Anywayz that’s my own opinion, I don’t wanna get into deep discussions on this matter…

Now let’s come to the other part, Are you really sure that you don’t try to convince ppl on your point??? According to me you do try hard to convince ppl on your point… And Rating wise I agree with you that you can’t really say that if the movie is a hit or a blockbuster, it should be good and if it is a flop, it should be bad….. There are some really good movies which didn’t do well at the box office and at the same time there are some bad movies which eventually turned to be super hits….So, you can’t really judge by the film’s status at the box office whether the movie was good or bad….

  • Fahad: you find Saawariya old and strange?!! I think u r from the new generation who never understand the meaning of “love” the true love.. ( and fyi.. I fell in love with my ex-husband.. a true strong love story and I had a love marriage with lots of problems I faced for 3 years in the past) there4.. I understand all these feelings and I enjoy these kind of stories, but the new generation..the young boys and girls don’t know it’s meaning.. do u know what’s the reason for love vanishing from this world? It’s because sexual relationship which in the past was forbidden is allowed now.. so the boys and girls fulfill their desires.. no place and no time for love and true love which was in the past.. in the past, there were no computers.. no cell phones..even no cars.. the technology, the education, the culture.. eveything changed about the relationship between a man and a woman. In the past.. a woman who used to sleep with a man and have a sexual relationship was considered a bad woman.. even the woman who used to drink or smoke.. but nowadays.. everything is allowed! And hindu culture ofcourse is different than muslim ppl’s culture.. what’s forbidden for us might be allowed for them.

There4 nowadays there’s no place for any true love.. and if there is.. so one in a million.. a couple meet, fall in love for quite a short time.. and they dump each other! that’s a fact.. women are educated.. if they didn’t like the character infront of them.. they just go away.. they can be dependant.. that’s also a strong reason for the divorce and the breakup, unlike in the past.. in the past even if a couple fell in love, got married, and then eveything changed between them.. the wife could never leave her husband and used to have patience for her kid’s sake.. and could go nowhere because she could never be independant and work to support her kids.

There4 some ppl miss these kind of stories and search for strong love stories.. it reminds them of their stories in fact.

  • Well Fathiya: I really didn’t want to hurt your feelings…. Sorry for that… But what i wrote is the fact and today’s generation is very different. I mean today, You can’t commit suicide if your lover leaves you or betrays you. But it used to happen a lot before…Heart broken people used to commit suicide for the sake of their love. And I find those people stupid. What is the use of giving your precious life just for one person?????? I don’t know whether these characters like Soni Mahiwal, Heer Ranjha, Sheereen Farhaat bla bla… really existed in this world or not but if they really sacrificed their lives in a manner what we hear about them then I think their approach was not realistic at all and this had to happen what really happened to all of them….
