The trade had huge expectations from Veer and as of today, the Salman Khan starrer directed by Anil Sharma has managed to live upto it.
As we all know by now, business at multiplexes all over India was on the lower side (30-40%) right from Day 1 (Friday). Monday witnessed a further crash and the film has been rejected at the plexes. Collections down south are disastrous, business in two key centers in Karnataka – Bangalore and Mangalore – is way below expectations.
But what’s heartening is the fact that, the target audience of Veer, have taken to the film big time. Business at B and C centers in India is strong and the trending is pretty good.
Collections were strong on Friday, followed by a minor dip on Saturday, picked up again with Sunday recording the best collections for the weekend. Weekdays were always going to be crucial and the film has sustained well – Monday witnessed an expected dip in collections, but business on Republic day (Tuesday) was record breaking, similar to the boost that Wanted received on its first Monday.
Below are the day to day collections of Veer
- Friday – 7 crores
- Saturday – 6 crores
- Sunday – 7.5 to 8 crores
- Monday – 3 crores
- Tuesday – 6.5 crores
5 day total – approx 31 crores.
Week 1 is expected to be somewhere between 34 – 36 crores.
What remains to be seen in the next few days
- Can Veer sustain and match its Monday collections during the remaining two weekdays i.e today and tomorrow?
- Will the release of Rann and Ishqiya affect its collections? Unlikely to, since both releases this week are targeted mainly at the multiplex audience.

Guys believe or not…..Being a Salman fan myself…..sadly d film is least likely to be a hit…yesterday in an interview to NDTV, Salman told dat now dat Veer isnt doing gud business in mutiplex,he will take all d blame on himself… actually d film ws not at all close to d parameters set by 3 idiots,so audience rejected it. sad.. Now keeping ma fingers crossd for Dabanng…although d name itself suggests dat it mite b a single screen film, i hope multiplex people lik it too…
High time Salman did some sensible stuff..look wat his competitors are doing ala Aamir,Sharukh even Amitji.
and now you are saying
that

Despite poor review, Salman’s Veer steady at BO
Press Trust of India
Thursday, January 28, 2010 (Mumbai)
Despite poor reviews, Salman Khan’s Veer has grossed Rs 41-crore worldwide at the box office in its opening weekend, distributor of the movie Eros International has said.
Veer took Rs 32-crore in its first weekend in India with Rs 9-crore overseas, a Eros spokesman said.
Directed by Anil Sharma, Veer, starring Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff and debutant Zarine Khan released across cinemas worldwide on January 22. The film released 1,300 prints and in digital cinemas all over India and a further 236 prints overseas.
The film has emerged a high grosser in circuits such as Rajasthan, Delhi/UP, Bihar, Gujarat with single screens doing good business over the weekend.
Nandu Ahuja, SVP, India Distribution, Eros International Media Ltd said, “Audience reactions to Veer have been extremely heartening. With Salmans huge fan base in India and overseas, we were confident that Veer would be a huge draw. With the opening weekend followed by the Republic
Day holiday teamed with Salmans star power, we are looking forward to the film’s positive run at the box office.”
The film’s story has been credited to Salman. Reviewers have been critical of the movie which made Salman ask his fans to ignore the critics and watch the film.
plz , inform us only sallu goodness if you are true sallu fans
like me , hina , amit bhai and others on indicine and all over the globe

Box Office: Veer heads out as a box office disaster; Rann, Ishqiya advance report
Wednesday, January 27, 2010
While some preposterous claims and figures are being advanced by associated groups in the trademedia about Veer having scored huge in various hard to seen ‘interior’ places, fact of the matter is the only likely havoc being created by this Salman Khan starrer’s performance at the box office is the panic amidst the distributors who have to be shocked looking at the actual crowds and collections across India. Veer on Friday opened dismally (multiplexes) to average (single screens). How dismally has been reported already and can be verified by anyone visiting a multiplex nearby or calling/visiting a Chandan Cinema in Mumbai, a single screener, or an Alka cinema in Chindwara, MP to see what the percentage of occupancies actually are. As it so happened, even the single screens did not open well universally but rather in select pockets on Friday and there too the collections dropped by Monday, meaning just about everywhere the film is on its way out. Even Tuesday’s, the Indian Republic Day holiday, which gave even duds like Salaam-E-Ishq a boost in 2007, couldn’t save it.
Overseas in USA, though Bollywood producer Eros (also distributing overseas) has claimed for a moderate $334k opening off 92 screens, Veer is said to have collected only about half that ie $171k according to independent American tracking. In fact, Anil Sharma’s Gadar, with its anti-Pakistan theme did not do great overseas either. But that film created records in India with genuine intensity if not epic budget, whereas Veer’s general anti-western thrust is seen out of synch (western movies like Avatar and 2012 are doing great in India even interiors in dubbed versions), and the action attempting to be Troy/Gladiator seen as visually underwhelming by bulk of Indian public. So the film has lost on account of both, lack of legitimate emotional charge, as well as lack of visually spectacular action.
While actor Salman Khan tried to rally his fans to go to the theaters regardless of reviews or word of mouth, collections instead dropped from 20-25% opening on Friday to about 9-10% by Monday at most of the decisive stations
i mean it will b a HIT no doubt..
Eros International, the Indian media and Entertainment Company today announced that Salman Khan starrer- Veer in its opening weekend, has had gross collections of Rs. 41 crores worldwide at the box office. Veer did a first weekend business of Rs. 32 crores (Rs. 19.50 crores net) in India with Rs. 9 crores coming in from overseas. Salman’s last hit Wanted netted Rs. 17.25 crores for the same period.

Afrid bhai…actually i m a true Salman fan…but i m just posting things which i m reading rite now on net.. Each site is showing different cheap reviews…i hope somehow Veer becomes a hit atleast but critics like Taran who bashed Veer are posting good reviews about Ishqiya and Rann even before they are released.
Rajib Halder:
65 is gross amount not net amount so please diduct 55% tax it will remain near to 31 cr in 6 days.
and Eros always shows gros collections , just remember KI they showd 100 cr world wide in 1st week , but original net were 42 cr india 10 cr overseas. even some sites mentioned that it was 36 cr in 1st week instead of 42.
Nauman bhai isiliye toh maine aapko 3 idiots kaa chatur kahaa thaa
b’coz you always ready for defending your comments
ok khush
atleast you have taken sallu movie name tere naam but dont say average it is sallu all time success of indian cinema as sallu is nominated for 2003 Tere Naam Radhe Mohan Filmfare Best Actor Award.
Deepak
when some one watch a movie before release it means that producer showed him personally and asked him to give review.
and tell me
when producer will invite taran for dinner and after dinner he will offer him to watch movie , and after movie he will offer him Blue Label , Chivas Regal or Glanfiddich ( Expensive Drinks ) and when Taran will enter in his car then Producer will put 1 cheque of handsome amount. what do u think next day morning what will be in review ????
Deepak
that why i am always saying this 65% impure critics naa ….
they always let sallu bhai movie down they also given tere naam 2.5 star but audience made tere naam all time success of indian cinema as sallu is nominated for 2003 Tere Naam Radhe Mohan Filmfare Best Actor Award.
so, sallu real critics is 100% audience who loved sallu always and specially from them sallu fans like you and me and all others round the globe who also gave answer by making sallu special appearance film like main aur mrs khanna all time hit with 21 crores approximately on dth sevice till yet so thes is sallu charms.
so, as i always say sallu real critics is 100% audience who loved sallu not this 65% besharam critics .
Afrid bhai
i am agree with u abt Tere Naam , even in pakistan after Tumbin people had craze abt any other movie like this , even we had t shirts of Tere Naam and every single boy was trying to hv radhay mohan hair style and jab koi takla ho jata tha to kahta tha main ne Hair dresser ko kaha ke radhay wala hair style bana do to us ne mujhe talka kar dia aur kaha ke main ne Tere Naam interval ke baad se dekhi thi.
hahahaha
but it is also true that Box office verdict was Avarage for Tere Naam , like Tum Bin
Main apne Fans ke liye jann de saktha hu aur Critics ke liye jaan le bi saktha hu
Afrid bhai u could use Shameless instead of besharam
kam az kam itni english aati hai mujhe.
hahaha just kidding dont be serious.
and this same comment akki fan can also use for akshay’s movies because all critics gave 1 star and 1.5 star to welcome , Singh is kinng , KI , DDD , but al thease movies collected more than 50 cr , even welcome and singh is king are blockbusters.
ok now me going i hv exam and i am in class so see u later after 3 hrs when i will in my home.
afrid bhai u didnt add me on msn or yahoo ?
add me or give me ur id
doesnt matter sallu n akki we are muslim brothers also .
