Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who is riding high on the success of ‘Airlift’ and ‘Housefull 3’, has said the delay in release of the controversial ‘Udta Punjab’ will help his film.
With less than a week to go for the scheduled theatrical release of the Abhishek Chaubey directed film, there continues to be uncertainty over its release.
The makers are currently fighting it out in the court, after the Censor Board’s prescribed several cuts. The film fraternity has come out in support of the film and have held a press conference over freedom of expression.
While making it obvious that he wasn’t too comfortable answering questions from the media related to the film, Akshay said “I want Chunky Pandey sahab to give the answer to this question. His first film ‘Aag Hi Aag’ was made by Pahlaj ji (Nihalani).”
Chunky said “Pahlaj ji is my godfather in the film industry. Nowadays, numerous people call me related to him, I’m very proud of him. As far as ‘Udta Punjab’ is concerned, I haven’t seen the film but ‘udte toh tote hain, Punjab kaha se udta hai’ (It’s the parrots that fly, not Punjab). But I don’t know; I can’t tell anything about him”
The media, however, wanted Akshay to comment. After all, it’s his statement that’s ‘quote-worthy’.
The actor simply said “If it gets pushed ahead, it will be beneficial to us”

I think UDTA will have a good opening if they release the film on 17th June,coz all the attention it is getting.
THE CONJURING 2 will have a successfull run since both the reviews and WOM are positive,WARCRAFT is having mixed WOM and the reviews are not that good and TE3N is a niche film.
Akshay Kumar suggested that this is how we should unite at the moment of crisis…let another movie doom.
All I can say if u can’t support then don’t make fun of something better don’t comment. When u land in same situation then u will know what it feels. Akki said his dil ki baat in a fun way and chunky u fool then going by ur logic houseful 3 should have been named as housefool3

Bout akki, althgh m a fan but he is a bit insecure at times.. his statements sometimes do reflect that! N yea doing 4 films doesnt mean he is doing big favours to industry coz most of his films either incur minor losses to atleast distributors or are plain average at box office.. airlift was the one off late which earned good profits.. baby n gabbar were average n others incurred losses!
It doesnt make sense coz even if we assume that all 4 of his films wld be hits they only get bout 10 to 15 crs of profit per film.. so industry after investing 300 cr+ in his four films gets not more than 350+ crs in return N that too if we discount any flops or average grossers!
On the other hand 1 salman film on a 100 cr investment atleast gives 200 crs!!
Althgh akki is a fine actor n arguably one of the best , he cant get the profits with his 4 films which 1 salman movie can get n he certainly aint getting the openings a veteran like him shd get!!

Lots of over reactions?? Weird…I still believe the release won’t have much effect on house full 3. One is a comedy one is a social genre. Personally right from time I knew I will skip housefull 3 and no regrets, after Fan and ki&ka my next target was always UP….So I think once the Audiences makes up their mind on what to watch and what not too …I don’t think any actors speech on a subject movie of importance shd be taken serious and between I know Akshay was kidding..?
