Tusshar trained by a Gangster

Tusshar after a month long training easily mouths vulgar dialogues and one could easily pass him off as a ganster. The training by a former ganster pays off.

Talk about adding authenticity to a role. Tusshar Kapoor had a reformed gangster’s company on the sets of Shootout At Lokhandwala. So, what exactly was a former gangster doing on the film’s sets? Well, he trained Tusshar with the ways of a not-so-refined sharpshooter.

Tusshar says, “I was a little uncomfortable playing a gangster in the film. This guy gave me a lot of inputs about conducting myself on different occasions. I picked up the trademark body language that a gangster normally has. He would tell us interesting stories about the days when he was a cold-blooded gangster.”

Interestingly, director Apoorva Lakhia became friends with the reformed gangster while researching another film three years ago. Before he went on floors he got him to train Tusshar who wasn’t really keen on playing a criminal in the film. The month-long training saw Tusshar easily mouthing vulgar dialogues, chewing matchsticks et al.

According to a unit member, “Tusshar would religiously spend about three hours every day with the reformed gangster. He was extremely dedicated and by the end of those 30 days you had to see Tusshar. Anyone could pass him off as a gangster.”

In fact, Lakhia would often scare Tusshar by relating scary tales about the gangster. However, the actor became good friends with his mentor.

Tusshar says, “Apoorva tried to make me nervous. But when I met this guy, I realised that he has left his days as a gangster far behind. Apoorva was just pulling my leg.”
