The comparison is unfair. Salman Khan, along with the two other Khans, are by some distance the biggest stars in the industry. On the other hand, Ek Villain had a supremely talented, but under-rated director at its helm, along with 2-film old stars like Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor. Ek Villain also had fewer shows and competition from Hollywood film Transformers: Age of Extinction and regional release Punjab 1984.
At the same time, Jai Ho had very little in its favour apart from Salman Khan and the opening was way below expectations for a film released on 3900 screens.
Yet, it is hard to believe that a film like Ek Villain, has actually challenged and almost managed to surpass the opening day business of not just Jai Ho.. but Akshay Kumar’s Post-IPL release Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, 2 States (huge recall value because of Chetan Bhagat’s novel) and Sajid Khan’s Humshakals.

Dhoom 3 ( I know many aamirs fans will go into denial mode) as we all know anyone could have given a blockbuster acting in Dhoom 3…Chennai express collected 156 cr in 3500 screens in 6 days and the other 64 cr in 1200 screens with competition every week… These stats clearly proves who was,is and will always be king of Bollywood

@Sakhi, the business of Ek Villain might almost touch that of Jai Ho but it has certainly broken the records of collections of Paglapur’s Thakur’s Holiday Releases like Ratoon Point One (Thakur+Kareena+Arjun+Rajni+Sanjay Dutt+PC) , Con 2 (Thakur+PC+Kunal Kapoor+Boman+Farhan+Duggu) and Jab Tak Hai Mojo (Thakur+KAt+Anushka+Yash Chopra+Gulzar+AR Rahman) except for Crappy Express.
Now, rant that Jai Ho was released in more screens. It was non holiday release with comparatively lower ticket price. So, screen numbers hardly helped. Wait for KICK. You will be given a big KICK in your back.
