Top 10 – Most Awaited Movies of 2010

Lots of movies to look forward to, in 2010. Two of the biggest stars missing from action last year return with their most ambitious movies ever.

Here is our list of the Most awaited movies of 2010.

10) Raavan – Mani Ratnam is reason enough to watch Raavan first day first show. The director of films like Yuva, Dil Se, Guru returns with Raavan starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. While his films have been good, he hasn’t really tasted box office success. Can he turn it around with Raavan?

Raavan Release date – April 2010

9) Ishqiya – Abhishek Chaubhey, the screenplay writer of Omkara and Kaminey makes his directorial debut with Ishqiya. It will be fascinating to watch talented actors like Arshad Warsi and Vidya Balan share screen-space with the legendary Naseeruddin Shah.

Ishqiya Release Date – January 29th, 2010

8) Action Replay – Expected to be one of Akshay Kumar’s better films this year, Action Replay is directed by Vipul Shah (London Dreams, Namaste London, Waqt).

Action Replay Release Date – Second half of 2010

7) Rajneeti – A movie based on elections and politics in India has Katrina Kaif playing a Sonia Gandhi inspired character. Rajneeti directed by Prakash Jha (Gangaajal, Apaharan) also stars Nana Patekar, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal and Ranbir Kapoor.

Rajneeti Release Date – May 28th 2010

6) Dhobi Ghat – Not much is known about this Aamir Khan film, except that Aamir plays one of the four leads. Prateik Babbar of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na fame also has a major role to play. Dhobi Ghat is directed by Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao.

Dhobi Ghat Release Date – Second half of 2010. 25th December, you think?

5) Veer – Directed by Anil Sharma, Veer will be a huge test for Salman Khan. The media for some reason, is ignoring this big budget film which hasn’t made it to many “films to look forward to in 2010” lists. Is the hype really missing?

Veer Release Date – January 22nd 2010

4) Guzaarish – For a change, Hrithik Roshan has two releases this year. Guzaarish, the second, is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is all set to prove the critics wrong after a disastrous last outing with Saawariya. The movie also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who shared great chemistry with Hrithik in Jodha Akbar and Dhoom 2.

Guzaarish Release Date – Diwali 2010 (expected)

3) Tees Maar Khan – Om Shanti Om didn’t work for us, but it did for the majority of people in India. Farah knows the pulse of the Indian audience and is all set to combine comedy, action, romance, masala yet again, this time with Akshay Kumar in Tees Maar Khan.

Tees Maar Khan Release Date – December 2010

2) Kites – The Roshan’s – Rakesh and Hrithik – have a 100% success ratio, right from Kaho Na Pyaar Hai to Krrish. Kites directed by Anurag Basu (Murder, Gangster, Life in a Metro) is their big claim to international fame. The film has been long in the making and with the release date now being fixed (May 14th 2010), Kites is expected to fly high both in India and overseas.

Kites Release Date – May 14th 2010

1) My Name Is Khan – At number 1 is My Name Is Khan, Shahrukh Khan’s biggest release in over 15 months. Love him or hate him, but come February 12th 2010, we are all going to queue up to catch Karan Johar’s much talked about love story also featuring Kajol. The theatrical rights were purchased by Fox Studios for 80 crores, add 15 crores for marketing and its a lot of money to recover.

My Name Is Khan Release Date – February 12th 2010

  • i think

Veer , at the minimum could be a flop and at the maximum it could be a hit ONLY.

i doubt even that this will be close to veer-zara.

whereas Mnik at the min could be a blockbuster and at the max could be alltime blockbuster breaking 3i’s rc.

well lets see how big record will 3 idiots set for mnik to break.

  • @ Ar
You Said That Hrithik Is A Child In Front Of SRK. Right? But You Din’t Said That Child Have Beaten Him Always… In Year 2000,2003,2006 And 2008. And I’m Sure That He Will Beat Him In This Year Too. No One Will Forget The Real Super Hero Of Bollywood Cuz Krrish 2 Is Comming Soon… :D. And You Said There Was No SRK’s Movies Released This Year Right? So, What About 2008? Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Vs Ghajini. Who Broke The Box Office Records? If My Name Is Khan Will Release In 2009 Then It Will Never Get That Much Success The Way 3 Idiots Is Getting… Only Aamir Can Break His Record.

There Is Only 3 Kings In Bollywood.
    1. Aamir Khan
    2. Hrithik Rohsan
    3. Akki

  • @ Amit :
Most Of People Like You Also Thought The Way You Are Thinking Now About VEER And They Were Thinking About WANTED That It Will Be Flop And Etc… What Was The Result? I Think You Know It Better Than Me :D. And One Thing SRK Can’t Break Aamir’s Records. MNIK Would Gross Around 85 or 90 Crs. And It’s Enough For SRK. >>> :D Aamir Is The Real King Of Bollywood. :D

  • i appreciate you youssef for presenting an eye-opening list .

so many heart winning performances and the best of best is yet to come from srk .

most of the hollywood films runs because of the quality of films mostly just like Avatar starring sam worthington.

But in bollywood it is supposed that a film will be big only if it cast srk , aamir , akshay , salman or hritik.

we can say the films runs on the shoulder of lead male actor of the film.

3idiots ran on the shoulder of aamir in the first week and after that it runs on the quality of film.

Veer iis also on salman shoulder , hype is enough , but i wonder many of salman films in recent years didn’t do even average business except partner and wanted. Still wanted was near around 65 crores in terms of nett business. 3 idiot is grossing near 200 crore nett. Wanted was hit as it was accepted to single screens widely but not on multiplexes. why salman movies not so much accepted at multiplexes as aamir movies are accepted.

Aamir movies are doing wodners at multiplexes and salman’s are rejected till end of 2009.

Response to srk movie were good at the end of 2008. Hopefully trend will continue and movie will be good enough to break any record.

  • My most awaiting films-1.Munna vai next(if it comes this yr),2.tees maar khan,3.action replay,4.dhobighat,5.pepli live,6.khatta mettha,7.sanki,8.dabangg,9.golmal 3,10.ravan(only for a.r rahman’s take on the epic)…not sure about patiala house,my name is khan,delhi belly,veer,kites.hope these films also become huge hits n we get a bumper 2010…..:-)

  • I wish if “Raavan” would be a blockbuster Hit….only becouse of MANI RATHNAM. His works are pure elegance and stylish….

People would go just to watch “SRK and Kajol” re-union. its just Irresistible…thats why i think MINK will be a Hit.

Although media didn’t noticed it…there is much speculation and anticipation about “VEER”.

  • these thng dont matter……….even blue …kambhkat ishq… n many were mst awaited of 2009 …..n they all proved a failure at box office…….

  • I live in bangladesh.but like bollywood flim.srk my favorite actor.i am sure my name is khan is a rare story. So do not missed this flim.

  • Hi friend. Do you know srk 2011 flim name is ‘xtreme city’.director was hollywood and it was the big budget flim in bollywood. Ar you are greet.

  • AAMIR the emperor of bollywood will once again win the race of 2010 wid DHOBI GHAT.

SRK sucks….he is no more into demand n always do such bullshit movies…

My name is khan is yet another flop frm SRK….

  • Sohail,

Rajneeti has a great potential. It has all the ingredients of becoming the first superhit when it comes to raw socio- political genre
and what about these 3 movies below are they coming this year:-

    DHOBI GHAT
    RA1
    KOMAGATU MARU
