Glorious run of ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ is coming to an end and Ranbir Kapoor has missed entering the 200 crore club by a mere 10 odd crores. Now that’s still a feat, very huge one at that, as until now only Aamir Khan (3 Idiots) had scored a double century and Salman Khan (Ek Tha Tiger) had come precariously close to that.
While one waits to see who would score the next double century, it can be comfortably stated that top superstars indeed have a task in hand. Though Salman Khan won’t really be competing with others due to no release this year, there are huge expectations from Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan to deliver before the end of year.

Shahrukh Khan (Chennai Express)
His last three films have been 100 crore grossers. However when it comes to ‘Baadshah Khan’, the challenge is to create records than match or meet the ones set by others. It has been a while since he had the topmost grossing film of the year against his name. While competition is going to be immense this year too, there is a lot riding on ‘Chennai Express’. The film appears safe but that is the least of what one expects from Shahrukh Khan. There has to be more, a lot more!
Akshay Kumar (Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara)
It was a dream 2012 for Akshay with the only downer being ‘Joker’. For someone who plays in volumes, there have been a few 100 crore affairs and others in the 70-80 crores range in the recent past. However, ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again’ isn’t one of those many films in a year which means expectations are tremendous. His first hardcore commercial film of the year, there are special results expected from the film.
Ajay Devgn (Satyagraha)
Post ‘Himmatwala’, Ajay needs to have a biggie against his name. The good part though is that just like Akshay Kumar, even Ajay plays in volumes. While this means that he can afford to have a stray flop or two against his name in the middle of some average and excellent performing films, ‘Satyagraha’ is special since it brings him back with Prakash Jha in a role which is central to the affairs. With big names like Amitabh Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor in there, he has a commercial set up in place which is waiting to be exploited.
Krrish 3 – Dhoom 3
Hrithik Roshan (Krrish 3)
If there is one film which is expected to be next in line to break into the 200 crore club, it is ‘Krrish 3’. The film has everything going for it and with good enough awareness around it already, ‘Krrish 3’ could release in a month from now and still emerge a huge success. It’s release timing is just right too and with advantage of a long Diwali holiday season and Rakesh Roshan at the helm of affairs, Hrithik can well be assured of a biggie up his sleeves.
Aamir Khan (Dhoom 3)
Other than ‘Krrish 3’, it is ‘Dhoom 3’ which would definitely be eyeing the 200 crore club. For Aamir Khan, it would also be redemption of sorts since his much hyped ‘Talaash’ couldn’t quite cover the distance last year. Aamir, who was the first to score a century (Ghajini) and then a double century (Dhoom 3), could well be dreaming further higher up for ‘Dhoom 3’. While one waits to hear about those numbers, for now he and his fans & followers would be content with a 200 crore affair.

Hrithik gets a freebie from plexes
After initiating a new revenue model where producers would be charged for using promotional infrastructure like standees and back-lit displays, multiplex owners recently introduced a substantial fee for attaching trailers of upcoming films to new releases.
With the charges fixed at around Rs 15 lakh per week and a trailer usually retained for at least 14 days, it implied producers would have to cough up a minimum of Rs 30 lakh per film, per multiplex chain.
However, in a volte-face which multiplex owners claim is purely a goodwill gesture, they have decided to make an exception for Rakesh Roshan’s Krrissh 3. Apparently, Roshan Sr has been receiving calls for the past couple of days from various multiplex chains, telling him they won’t charge him for attaching the Krrish 3 trailer as well as for displaying the promotional infrastructure of the film. A final decision was taken by multiplex owners yesterday.
While PVR and Cinemax did not respond to our text messages and calls, Anand Vishal, Head of Operations at Fun Cinemas, said, “We are very happy to promote Krrish 3. The film is estimated to touch the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. It’s a win-win situation for us.”

@ricky A film releasing on large number of screens (like Krrish 3, CE etc) can guarantee a huge opening but not huge lifetime collections. 3 idiots crossed 200 cr with on half number screens of YJHD. Ultimately its the film’s content that throws in huge collections.
Moreover after a huge opening, there is a huge fall after the weekend, eg, TMK, Race 2, ETT etc.

In his career, Hrithik Roshan has played many roles — superhero, terrorist and even a Mughal emperor — but all on screen. The star may soon be putting on one more hat, that of a writer. Of late, he has been penning poems. He has even posted two of them on his Facebook page in the last week itself,
around the same time that he underwent brain surgery. And now, we have come to know that a number of his Bollywood friends have requested him to come out with “an inspirational book”.
“Hrithik is giving it (writing a book) a thought considering he isn’t working these days (he is on a four-week break after the surgery). But nothing is finalised yet,” says an insider close to the actor. It’s believed that a publishing house has also shown interest in bringing out Hrithik’s book.
“Right now, he really isn’t thinking about it since it he would need to put a lot of effort into it. He is too busy with his films (Krrish 3 is his next release, followed by Bang Bang) to take on such a project right away. But he is surely thrilled about the idea,” says the insider.
We have heard that Karan Johar has also praised Hrithik for his poetry-writing skills. “In fact, a number of his family members and friends have been asking him to put his thoughts on paper as well. But he hasn’t taken a call yet,” adds the insider.
Despite repeated attempts, Hrithik couldn’t be reached for a comment.

Chinese infiltrators charmed by Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan movies

LEH: As security agencies probe the motive behind the infiltration of three Chinese Muslims through Sino-India border, the trio is singing a different tune.
If the responses of the three persons to the interrogators are to be believed, it was the charm of Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and HrithikRoshan that apparently drove them to India. They were detained last month.
The three — Salamo, Abdul Khaliq and Adil Thorsong — at present in the custody of security agencies at Margo post in north of Ladakh after being detained on June 12, had told their interrogators about their dreams to enter India and earn money as they were facing acute poverty in their region, official sources said.
According to the sources, there was incoherence in their statements except that they were mesmerized by the charm of Bollywood superstars — Khan and Roshan.
The three claimed that they were driven out by extreme poverty from home and wanted to come to India because they had seen it as a land of prosperity on the silver screen, the sources said.
The three claimed during their interrogation, which were conducted separately, that the movies of Khan and Roshan were a hit in their area — Kargalilik of Xianjang province.
The trio, who knew only two languages — Yarkandi and Uyghur — gave different versions about their family background and the way used by them to come into India.
The security agencies were still not convinced and their interrogation would continue, sources said. The three men, aged between 18 and 23, one of whom is one-eyed, were nabbed inside Indian territory on June 12, near Sultanchku.
They are, at present, in the custody at Murgo post, where the interrogators have been flown in along with a translator.
It was also not clear from where they had come, as the nearest habitation across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) was in north of Karakoram range. Authorities are working on the possibility that they could have entered through either Raki Nallah, Jeevan Nallah or north of Daulat Beig Oldie, where Indian and Chinese troops had a face-off for nearly 21 days, between April 15 and May 5.
The three men also could not give a clear description of the areas traversed by them to enter India. Besides this, there was also apprehension about the fact that the three could have been headed towards Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir which is barely 30km up north of the area from where they were nabbed.
The three men were carrying a big political map and two smaller versions of the document with Arabic and Yarkandi script on it.
Besides this, they were carrying improvised swords and knives, tinned food including egg powder (useful in higher regions), Chinese currency of over 900 yuan and Chinese leather jackets.
The three claimed that the jackets, discarded by Chinese troops, have been picked up by them.
Both summer and winter road connectivity to this post were cut off due to bad weather in Ladakh region this year, and therefore, security agencies airlifted the interrogators and the translators to the post where the three were detained.
According to the laid down procedure along the LAC, the custody of any accused apprehended in the area has to be with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and interrogation can be carried out by central security agencies.
