The Jungle Book is on a phenomenal run at the India box office, as the trend during the weekdays is beyond fantastic. The film is carrying better word-of-mouth than all other films released in 2016. In fact, the Hollywood film is performing well at smaller centres too, where even the biggest Hindi success of the year – Airlift – did not perform very well.
No other Hindi dubbed film, except Baahubali, has performed as well as ‘The Jungle Book’ and no other Hollywood film has sustained so well either. The business of the film has shown a big jump of more than 10% on Wednesday, which is a sign that the film will not only get plenty of shows in its second weekend, but hold strongly inspite of a massive Hindi film releasing in theatres.
With ‘The Jungle Book’ performing so well, word-of-mouth has become even more important for Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN. The film is set for a good opening on Friday, but ‘The Jungle Book’ has the potential to eat into its business on Saturday and Sunday if the word-of-mouth of FAN isn’t positive.
Unlike more commercial films featuring SRK in the lead, FAN has limited appeal at single-screens and mass-centres, so business at cities, especially at metros, will be crucial if the film has perform.

Jungle book deserves to be a blockbuster..its an excellent film..but FAN is something extremely special..Mowgli and Shahukh Khan are two of the most loved people of 1990s by Indian masses ..this is going to be a cracker of a contest now..
Two good word of mouth movies can run positively. Last year we have seen this with Bahubali and Bajarangi Bhaijaan..

Lol at ppl who are saying Indicine are spreading negativity towards FAN….Indicine is a film website and there is nothing wrong in updating about the current BO scenarios and to be frank I guess Jungle book is going to make a difference in FAN’s initial collections coz families and kids have embraced Jungle Book and that is a huge advantage for Jungle book.
Mowgli is reigning on Box Office. I opened book my show today n very surprised to see Jungle Book booking for Friday is 60% & FAN not even 20% in Bangalore (majority are Multiplexes). Generally any SRK movie will have at least 50-60% booking full a day before release.

Jungle book is a semi indian film. Hindi version contributing more than english version is happening for the first time plus it’s so deeply rooted in our culture. This will impact for short term. But the most important thing is how good or bad the content of Fan is. A good movie will eventually recover its initially lost business but it has to be a good movie.
