The Dirty Picture Box office collections (Official)

Ekta Kapoor’s The Dirty Picture opened to historic weekend numbers – especially when you consider the fact that the film is female-centric the collections are mind-boggling. The opening (including all versions) is 10% higher than Ajay Devgan’s Singham, which was one of the biggest hits of the year!

Release on 1766 screens in India and 120 screens overseas, The Dirty Picture collected Rs 32.7 crores and Rs 3.5 crores respectively.

Below is the break-down. Remember, these are the official numbers that we received from Balaji

  • Friday – 9.54 crores
  • Saturday – 10.78 crores
  • Sunday – 12.38 crores
  • Weekend Total – 32.7 crores

Purely on ROI (return-on-investment), The Dirty Picture is likely to go on to be the biggest hit of the year and should easily surpass the collections of Murder 2.

Internationally, the film is doing well too. In the international markets, the film released day-and-date in the  United Kingdom, North America, Mauritius, UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, Kenya, Indonesia, South Africa, Tanzania, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hong Kong. Its net opening in these territories was around 3.5 crores.

With The Dirty Picture doing so well at the box-office, the success has firmly established Alt Entertainment (Balaji Motion Pictures’ sister production house) with successful films like Shor In The City, Ragini MMS and now The Dirty Picture. It’s next release is Kya Super Kool Hai Hum (the sequel to Kya Kool Hai Hum).
