The Dirty Picture – 60 crores in 10 days

In what is turning out to be the most surprising blockbuster of the year, Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture has crossed Rs 60 crores at the Indian box-office in 10 days.

After a strong first week, that fell just short of the 50 crores mark, the Milan Luthria directed film continued it’s strong run into it’s second weekend.

Early estimates have the second weekend collections at around Rs 12 crores, taking the 10 day total to approximately 61 crores net.

To put things into perspective, The Dirty Picture has gone past the lifetime collections of the director’s previous biggest grosser ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai’ in less than 10 days. It’s also beaten the 2 week collections of Desi Boyz in one week. The opening is bigger than all releases this year except Ready, Bodyguard and Ra One, which also means the opening is higher than big star films like Hrithik Roshan’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Ajay Devgan’s Singham.
