The Band of Boys and Nexus form – ‘Xen@bob’

New band ‘Xen@bob’ (pronounced ‘zen-abob’, zen being the opposite of NEX from ‘Nexus’ and ABOB for A Band Of Boys) is all set to bring a fusion of digital and acoustic club music. The band is a collaboration of members of ?The Band of Boys? and rock group ?Nexus? and will produce Intelligent Dance Music to India for the first time.

Compromising of Sangeet Haldipur (of Aasma fame), Sheldon D’Silva, & Gino Banks (son of ace drummer Louis Banks) as Nexus and of course the Band of Boys members Sherrein Varghese, Karan Oberoi, Siddharth Haldipur and Chin2u Bhosle, this group is all set to storm the club circuit music from now!

‘Music is continuously changing and we as musicians and singers are always
restless and looking for new ways to stimulate ourselves! One day we went to a night club after a show and were sitting there bored and we started singing different songs to different tunes . . . old Hindi songs to the grooves of Prodigy, U2 and Doors to Indian grooves, etc. and thus was born the concept of Interactive Dance Music (IDM) and we the group XENABOB,’ Says Sherrin Varghese.

For those of you who don’t really understand, Intelligent Dance Music (commonly IDM) is a genre of electronic music derived from dance music of the 1980s and early 1990s, which puts an emphasis on novel processing and sequencing. Music referred to as IDM is generally abstract, and may range from soft ambient textures to more abrasive noise.

But are the Band Of Boys dissolving so soon? ‘No way!’ comes the instant reply. ‘We will still be continuing our old stuff, coming out with new albums, but this is just another segment we are experimenting along with our pop music albums that we generally make.’ Says one of the members.

Guess they have hit the right ‘chord’, may we say ?!
