Tanu Weds Manu Returns is on a dream run at the box office. The film is the highest first week grosser of the year, both in the domestic and overseas markets, ahead of much-bigger films like Gabbar Is Back, Baby and Piku.
The Madhavan – Kangana starrer has collected Rs 70 crore (net) in Week 1 in India and grossed Rs 25.5 crore in the overseas markets. The worldwide gross currently stands at around Rs 119.6 crore.

Looking at the way ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ has sustained on its 2nd Friday, the film is almost certain to be the first 100 crore film of the year and could eventually gross Rs 200 crore worldwide!
Only 20 films in the history of Indian Cinema have grossed Rs 200 crore worldwide. Interestingly, if ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ crosses the milestone, it will be first film without a bankable male star to gross 200 crore. 14 of those belong to the Khans and Hrithik has two. The remaining four featured Akshay Kumar (Rowdy Rathore), Ajay Devgn (Singham Returns), Ranbir Kapoor (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) and Ranveer Singh / Deepika Padukone (Ram Leela)
So a film like Tanu Weds Manu Returns grossing 200 crore would be a massive achievement.

This is outstanding business . I never expected the movie to do such a huge business . I knew the movie will be a Superhit but it will do 100 CR in India and can do 200 CR worldwide is something insane . This movie proves one thing that people like entertaining movies but they should be made in a proper manner . Hats off to you Anand Rai for making such a entertaining Rom Com . The entire cast has done a fantastic job . Congratulations R. Madhavan with this movie you will get the attention you deserve . This will be your 1st movie in the 100 CR Club . The two huge reasons according to me why this movie is doing tremendous business the first reason is the Sequel factor because TWM has been loved by audiences and has got a Cult status . The second reason is that this movie came after Queen . I know that after Queen Kangana had two releases – Revolver Rani and Ungli . Both were flops . Nobody watched RR and nobody noticed her in Ungli because she had a small role . The other important reasons are the superb trailer, entertaining songs and paisa vasool entertainment .
now its a tight slap to those ajay akki fans who keep on saying that with holiday release they can cross 200 cr etc..

The only negative point here is Indicine’s lifetime prediction for TWMR. They went completely wrong about BV and TWMR, but no blames as BO is totaly an unpredictible game, like this year it’s almost impossible to predict which film will end the year as the biggest grosser and biggest hit and how many films will cross 100cr or 200cr!
