Tamasha has collected around Rs 10-11 crore (early estimate) on its opening day at the box office, which is good when you consider the fact that both the trailer and music received a mixed response.
However, the audience that watch Ranbir Kapoor films on Day 1 has dropped quite significantly in the last few years. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani collected Rs 19 crore on Day 1 (non-holiday Friday), Besharam collected Rs 21 crore (holiday) and even Roy, where Ranbir was seen in a special appearance, collected Rs 10.4 crore on its opening day at the box office.
Tamasha, which released on 2000 screens across the country, was mainly targeted at the multiplex audience and it’s here where it got a wide release. Single-screen release was limited to a select few theatres only and the film has performed poorly here.
Saturday will now be extremely important for the film, as it’s on this day that such films show major escalation in business. The growth has to be in the 30-40% range if the film has to have any chance of recovering its investment.

Sallu fans are totally gawar ! Even They cant appreciate a good movie like Tamasha but Prdp jaisi boring movie ko 4-4 baar dekh kar aaye honge.
Bhai maanta hu ki as a sallu fans It is jystify to watch PRDP but Achhi movie ko bhi appreciate karna seekho. I just watched Tamasha today and I really feel This movie deserve much more appreciation & collection.

@babaji how can you rate khans and hritik above Akki, didn’t expected this from you, even if your criteria is collections, mind you he releases 4-5 movies/year, that takes a big toll on collections of every single movie, he can’t be positioned lower than others, you should consider the yearly collections which for 2015 comes around 350 crores, he is as big as khans in India, can’t say about overseas, I am pretty sure if he releases any movie after a year gap, it will break all records, but we can’t say he is doing any wrong by releasing 4 movies a year, that’s his way of working and we love him for all his work, so better respect the God of Bollywood- Akshay Kumar

Its really low collections when u consider imtiaz n deepika’s presence along with ranbir..now its pretty clear that ranbir is much below akki when it comes to star power..remember akki’s sib scored 21 cr with newcomer and a director with bad track record though i agree it was holiday release.stop comparing ranbir with akki..
Ticket Prices have to be decreased for Ranbir/Akshay/Ajay starer. Public don’t prefer first day first show for these stars rightnow, so they can’t pull the crowd for all films, Even Tamasha can do 200cr with Khans and Hrithik. But Ranbir is a new example for Khans as well. You cannot give disasters back to back, Trust at one side and fan following or popularity is on other side. Like Salman has always been popular and have huge fan following since 90s, but he has something that he never lost his potential even in his worst phase and wanted made an excuse. Ranbir was also super star, So can he back to his full form like bhai?

life time will be around 75 crs. First half was terrible with childish dialogue (like imitating dev Annand).second half was decent when he start to challenge himself .Deepika was decent but in second half there is only like 3 scenes of her.
