Aamir Khan’s Talaash has done well in it’s second week, with good jump in business on it’s 2nd Saturday and Sunday. The film is relying almost entirely on big-city multiplexes, where the occupancy at places was better than Khiladi 786. In fact, several multiplexes are running more shows of Talaash this week.
With no releases this weekend, the Aamir-Kareena-Rani starrer still has an outside chance of crossing 100 crores nett in India.

Talaash has collected approx 79.48 crore in 11 days at the domestic box office. Overseas, the film has done very well too. Rs 36-37 crores in it’s first week and Rs 5 crore (approx) in it’s second weekend. The worldwide total so far (11 days in India, 10 days overseas) is 121-122 crores.
Verdict: HIT in India, SUPER HIT in the Overseas markets.
Dont worry this is just a trailer….Dhoom-3 will collect 350 cr.
I think Talaash is a good movie which has a very weak climax. Remember 8×10 Tasveer, even that movie was god but only got ridiculed by a bad climax. people then read the review and since the actor was Akshay dint even bother to see it, here its Aamir who commands some respect hence it is earning what it is now…to me both these films are same. Frankly does not deserve a second viewing.
@tejas, nope both r not same genre ETT was romantic thriller and don 2 was a complete action thriller and also had a great suspence, what type suspence was in there in ETT?? Anyways it would be unfair compare don2 with talash although both had suspence in the movie but don2 had great action from the start till end of the movie which glued the people to their seats in theater which is not the case with talash I.e it did not have any action nor it did had any entertainment, it was just a complete serious movie..

Talaash is a disappointment whether Aamir fans accept it or not. Kahani with no recognisable male superstar became superhit with just 1/4th of prints that Talaash released with! Barfi was also an offbeat & non holiday release with just Ranbir (who’s nothing in front of so called Midas touch Aamir!). Yet Barfi crossed 100 crore with just 1300 prints!
Talaash has collected below par for an Aamir Khan film & even for an offbeat film! It was not a 3 Idiots but not a Dhobi Ghat either that whatever pennies it collects are enough to call it mega hit! Overseas it’s just reaping benefits due to goodwill earned by success 3 Idiots! Otherwise Aamir films barely do much business there.
Quality wise too – Talaash is just like Vinod Khanna film Lekin. There’s nothing unique about it! It lags behind in Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic & IMDb ratings too. Even OMG, English Vinglish & Kahani better rated!

some people r saying khan’s ki movie hai to 100 cr nahi to flop hi maano.if srk or salman do films apart from their genre(srk:romance,salman:action),their film won’t cross 30 cr as seen before.
Aamir follows no genre of films,he tries nd succeeds.
Srk,salman akshay would never do these type of films cause they r worried about their stardom,fan-following.
A good film like dabangg makes 10 horrible films of salman work.
Hey guys I haven’t watched talaash yet cause of my exams and stuff but I’d like to point a few things out……
For those who r comparin don 2 and talaash, don 2 was backed by a brilliant prequel and yes I liked don better than don 2 and come on don was promoted more like a mass entertainer rather than somethin that runs on performances and script unlike talaash. Talaash is not the kind of movie that u would go in for with family but friends cause it aint no love story or anythin in that genre. And barfi was a nice film with a great performance from ranbir and also a soft story don’t know why u would even think cout comparin the too and films like jthj,sos,k786 don’t deserve anythin but peanuts. Jthj ran successfully just bcoz yash chopra passed awary to say that
@Deepu – dont know whose fan u are but it is fair to say that Talaash was not completely a main stream film…..it is also fair to say that Talaash isnt an offbeat film…..however for the suspense genre it belongs to collections of more than 90 cr in India and around 50 cr overseas is very good indeed!!
Yes, having seen the collections of Barfi, one expected a film like Talaash t cross 100 crores in India being an Aamir Khan film…..As Farhan Akhtar pointed out officially that the film has suffered due to its suspense being leaked online, audiences lost interest…..yes being an Aamir fan even I expected the film to cross 100 cr easily but maybe it becomes difficult for a suspense film to do so…..an apt comparison would be a dark suspense film from a superstar in near future…..remember Barfi was not a main stream film but was not really a dark film of suspense genre either……though its fair to say that Barfi did really really well…..more than expectations…
Talaash is below expectations which r so huge from Aamir that infact it has dented Talaash because of its genre….as far as overseas is concerned, all three khans are very popular…..ofcourse srk is leading but its not as if he doesnt have cometition there…..if u see all three ETT, JTHJ and Talaash have done great business but it not as if JTHJ is miles ahead of ETT or Talaash…..remeber genre plays an imp role in overseas collections as well……so its not 3I goodwill but brand aamir that helped Talaash overseas…..anyway Talaash is a very good film ….
As for Dhoom 3 , the credit of the first one went to John Abraham and the second to Hritik Roshan…..then howcome if the third is a big hit too, it will become a multi starrer…..if yr talking about Katrina, then she was in JTHJ and ETT too and if yr talking about Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, then we all know what credibility they have as far box office is concerned…..remember Uday Chopra himself said that onus of Dhoom 3 is completely on Aamir!!!

talaash is a great movie but it has not performed very well at box office.
After Jthj and sos it was clear that talaash will attract classes only and masses will head towards sos or wait for khiladi.
But still WOM is not as good as expected. I think SOS is bigher hit than talaash and jthj is way ahead. Non holiday or holiday factor was eliminated after bal thakrey death. Odds were against sos and jthj because of competition. Both have eaten alot of each other business. just imagine if there is a 3 days bandh during talaash or khiladi first weekend.
So the competition factor equals the genre issue with talaash, but how about khiladi??
it should have done well with 2800 screens aprox.
