Surmeet Kaur Sawhney from Mumbai became only the second contest on popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati to win Rs 5 crores (the highest prize money given away on the show)
The 37 year old housewife answered all the 15 questions correctly to win the Jackpot.
Earlier, it was Bihar’s Sushil Kumar, a computer tutor earning a salary of Rs 6,000 a month, who made headline when he become the first contestant to win Rs 5 crores.
KBC, one of the most popular television game shows in India, is hosted by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan. The veteran actor had earlier tweeted saying “Historic day in many ways today … shall inform why tomorrow..”

Balak Palak (Marathi) opened yesterday in
Maharashtra to a huge response and may set
new standards in that industry going by the
early response.
The records in Marathi cinema till date are
held by Mi Shivajiraje Bhosle Boltoy! released
in April 2009 which got an extended run in
Maharashtra as the 3 month strike over
revenue sharing hit the Hindi film industry.
Mi Shivajiraja Bhosle Boltoy! grossed around
11 crore with an opening week of around
2.75 crore and Balak Palak could challenge
that, if it does not go that far it will be at
least the second highest grossing Marathi
film.
Note – The figures above are gross and not
nett as Marathi films are tax free in
Maharashtra.
