The advance booking of Sultan has set records all across India. Trade sources say, about 25 crore worth of tickets for the entire weekend have already been sold as of Tuesday night, something that no film has ever achieved.
The advance booking sales is about 3.5 to 4 times more than any other release this year and could possibly be higher than the advance ticket sales of all 2016 films combined. Almost every multiplex chain has set records.
The ticket sales were brisk ever since the counters opened on Sunday morning. Lot of shows were sold out in minutes and sales began gaining momentum with block bookings and corporate sales. We have also received confirmation from BookMyShow, that Sultan has recorded the highest advance ticket sales ever on their website.
The craze for the film, without an iota of exaggeration, is unprecedented. If the scene at the ticket counter tomorrow is anything close to the kind of response that the advance booking has got, non-holiday records could fall and Sultan could be challenging holiday records on a partial / half holiday.
A tsunami is expected in the next couple of days at the box office and it’ll be Salman’s turn once again to firmly establish his box office supremacy.

@Indicine : I questioned you only after my bit of research. There are many ‘unreliable’ sources forecasting holidays without having even a cent of knowledge about the same. But if you go by the reports coming out from media giants like Times Now, NDTV , ABP group etc, only for central government employees , that too only in Delhi (which I stated earlier), holiday has been shifted to Thursday. For everywhere else, it is as per schedule.

Moreover, I have checked the official leave calendar of various states and all of them have declared July 6 as holiday.
And not only stock markets and banks, but all private firms (ranging from real estate to IT to finance) will be closed tomorrow which contribute the major chunk of multiplex audiences.
And for god sake, don’t count the school and colleges as no school going kid can afford a ticket, priced as high as 350-400-450.

That’s what the circular and other prominent media houses have to say. Central government has shifted the Eid holiday to July 7 for all the offices located at Delhi (that includes those situated in Lutyens’ zone as well as cabinet secretariat /other offices which are under the ambit of Government of India).
For other states (both state as well as central government offices located in those states) , center has left the decision on their discretion.
If you notice, in the same line (which you provided earlier), there is a list of all the state holidays and maximum of them have July 06 as a holiday marked in their calendar.
And why so much discussion yaar. On a partial holiday, no film can collect 38 cr(as per your prediction) under current circumstances unless it is an installment of a popular franchise . Though not sure what will happen in next couple of years, but as of now this is the situation.
So 38cr on Day 1 is an impossible figure for a film unless it is a holiday in maximum parts of the country.

In last few years after regularly following your site , I have reached to the conclusion that you try your best to provide us the most reliable information. But I don’t understand why do you tolerate some people who constantly spread negativity here in the posts. I also truly like Salman Khan and Mr Bachan and at the same time I like their movies to perform very well at the boxoffice. But I would never speak ill about Shahrukh, Amir or Akhshay. Believe me I don’t even like to watch films of any star except Mr Bachan and Salman Khan but I can’t spread negativity for stars I don’t like. Tickets of worth Rs 25 cr (as you claimed) means a footfall of 1million (considering average ticket price is 250 INR) which is a huge number. And this probably excludes those people who can’t afford such high ticket prices and who wait for weekdays in order to get the cheaper tickets. Plus as many claimed here , Muslims are not going to watch it tomorrow as Eid is there on July 7.
So my question is, if there is no holiday in many parts of the country (as it is continuously being called as ‘partial’ holiday), are these 1 million people are taking off from their work?
Because we book the tickets in advance only when we are very sure about our work schedule etc and in most of the case, the ticket price is non-refundable on BMS and other movie websites.
So such a huge advance booking clearly suggests that there is a holiday in most of the parts and thus people are coming out in big numbers to give Sultana a watch.
