The advance booking of Sultan has opened across the country on Sunday and the response is TERRIFIC. Some shows have been sold out in a matter of minutes.
From the initial reports that are coming in from various exhibitors, the tickets sold in advance in a few hours is more than all films this year. And we are comparing the entire duration (until Thursday night for films that release on Friday) to a few hours of Sultan.
By the time the film releases on Wednesday, Sultan would probably sell 2 to 3 times more tickets in advance, as compared to all other film releases this year. Some are already calling it the ‘best ever advance booking’.
Sultan will also be playing on a record number of shows at multiplexes, with some multiplexes ‘only’ playing Sultan – Wednesday onwards. At most 3-screen multiplexes, all older films like Housefull 3, Udta Punjab, Raman Raghav 2.0 will stop playing after Tuesday, to make way for Sultan. At multiplexes with higher capacity, Sultan will be playing on a record number of shows.

The response, in just a matter of a few hours, is unprecedented. We don’t usually do advance booking reports so early, but never before has our inbox been literally bombarded with messages expressing euphoria over the response to the advance booking of a film.
There hasn’t been a film that has really set the box office on fire at smaller centres this year. At quite a few of these centres, Sultan could be setting lifetime 2016 records on its first day itself – i.e more people watching the film on Day 1 as compared to lifetime of other films.

So ticket price and number of screens are more than HNY, craze is huge and it features the biggest megastar of this country.
So we can safely assume that it will collect 50cr+ even in worst case scenario. Isn’t it?
Let’s see how much these promotional strategies work, IMO the movie won’t open above 40 cr.
& after all the ‘hype & buzz, the euphoria ‘ that’s been discussed, if it doesn’t open above 40 cr. What a shame it would be!

This is the advantage of releasing a movie without any major competition/clash from other movies.
Now since people are not having much options, they will have to bear the non-actor’s torture. Had they given other options, they would definitely have shifted towards those options instead of wasting their money and brain in Sultana.
And perhaps this is the formula, non-actor has been practicing since 2010. Release your movie without any clash on a holiday weekend and churn huge numbers out of mindless craps.
