Sony Music signs 3 film deal with Dharma productions

Sony Music has clinched a deal with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions to distribute the music of its three upcoming films.

Music of “Ungli”, “Gippi” and “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein” will be distributed by Sony on all physical and digital platforms.

Sony has so far distributed music for movies like “Murder 3”, “ABCD Any Body Can Dance” and “Kai Po Che!”.

“Each film has music that is different from each other and will definitely strike a chord with the audiences,” said Sanujeet Bhujabal, marketing director, Sony Music India, in a statement.

“We are aggressively planning innovations in marketing for each of these films to create a massive impact. We are confident that music enthusiast will have a great musical year,” he added.

Salim-Sulaiman has composed music for “Ungli”. Directed by Rensil D’Silva, it stars Emraan Hashmi and Randeep Hooda and is slated for a Sep 6 release.

“Gippi” is directed by debutant Sonam Nair. It will come out April 5, and marks the production house’s first association with a female director. It has music by Vishal-Shekhar.

Vishal-Shekhar has also composed for director Punit Malhotra’s “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein” that will see Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan in the lead.

When contacted, Dharma Productions’ spokesperson confirmed the development.
