Singham Returns has opened to packed houses across the country on its opening day. The average all India morning show occupancy was around 70-75% with single-screens opening to 80% plus occupancy. Multiplexes were lower, but good considering the fact that the film is running on multiple screens at each property.
The Ajay Devgn – Kareena Kapoor starrer was affected by the release of Suriya’s Tamil film Anjaan, which has taken a very good start in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In fact, the release of Anjaan has resulted in fewer shows for Singham Returns as the Tamil film has released on approx 125 screens in Karnataka.
However, it was Singham Returns all the way in circuits like Mumbai (huge opening in Maharashtra), Delhi/UP, C.P, C.I and East Punjab. Rajasthan also has taken a good start.
In Mumbai, the opening is better than Salman Khan’s Jai Ho, which released on a non-holiday while Singham Returns has benefitted hugely from an Independence Day release.
The early morning trends suggest opening day business of 20 cr plus. The advance booking for noon / evening shows is pretty good, so the film could put up a much bigger total.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar’s Entertainment has dropped quite significantly at multiplexes and has lost out on almost all its single-screens. The film should finish with lifetime business of around 70 cr.

Oh no our megastar bhai’s kick opening day record is in huge danger from 6th ranked ajay.but as v all know our bechara bhai hd to release his film in ramdaan period otherwise our bhai’s kick would hv earned minimum 40cr with such huge screen count and hiked ticket rates

singham returns Will be blockbuster but audience will miss prakash raj as he was superb in singham and probably slightly better than ajay also in acting.

Ajay is one of best actor of bollywood.
Personally I did not really like Singham coz touted as a masala action film, it had only 3-4 action sequences in the entire movie!!!!! Rest were all long speeches about the police department and stuff. Hopefully SR will dish out more action, which is being claimed to be realistic this time. Has the potential to be touch 150cr if wom is good but i think it will be around 130cr.
Independent Day is the biggest holiday, last year chennai Express and ouatimD did (20+11)=31 cr. on that day. Ek tha Tiger which release on Independent day did 31/32 cr. in 2012. So, 15 August is a very lucrative day to release a movie. So, singham return should comfortably do 25+ cr.

Just finished Singham returns. I will give my review on indicine review post. About opening i just say it is hopefull everywhere in my city. I went one of the leading plex in my city which has 3 screens. Show of 12,12:30 and 12:45 is sold out already. So we have no option to go to nearest other multiplex where we got tickets and both shows of that plexes was sold out. And this is the story of multiplex where high class people watching films now you can imagine if multiplex is full how would be craze in single screens. About movie just one word to say Lion is back with the bang, he will roar give you entertainment and take the boxoffice by storm. Simply the best commercial film of the year. Rohit shetty you rocked again. Now wait for Singham 3 lifetime will be 170 cr+ and i wish it will cross 200cr. Ajay devgn you rocked.
