With only Rani Mukerji’s Mardaani as competition this week, Singham Returns has managed to hold pretty well on its 8th day at the box office. However, the drop in business when compared to its first Friday (opening day) was almost 90%.
The Rohit Shetty film has now collected 115.92 crore in 8 days, the highest for a film starring Ajay Devgn in the lead.
Singham Returns is likely to collect around 125 crore by the end of its 2nd weekend and should finish with lifetime business of 140-145 crore.

- Saturday - 21.05 cr (34% drop)
- Sunday - 24.55 cr (17% growth)
- Monday - 14.78 cr (40% drop)
- Tuesday - 8.21 cr (44% drop)

- Thursday – 5.47 cr (15% drop)
- First Week Total – 112.59 crore
- 2nd Friday – 3.33 cr (39% drop)
- Total 8 day collections – 115.92 cr

With 145 cr, Singham returns will merely get a hit status considering the budget of the movie. And this is not a new thing for Rohit. As I said earlier, Rohit always gives hits/superhits without any interruption but to give BB/ATBB,he must needs some Big names (like last year he paired up with SRK for CE).

The flim will be super hit.
hype , holiday and franchise plays to get good initial draw and reducing from 30 cr to 3 cr from ist friday to 2nd friday clearly reflects the content of the movie.Now new actors get 100 cr business so what big deal if these actors giving 116 cr business.
Greek god’s one song beat Srk’s HNY 3 minute trailer! Hrithik is way more appreciated than Srk.

@rohit you mention valid points but I was surprising the way film dropped hugely on weekdays because considering all factor still film is worth a watch.for me the antagonist was a let down, except that film is quite a good sequal.But huge expectation and Ajay stardom which is comparitive low than khans,hr &Akki was a main reason.Still this a successful movie but it should collect 170cr+ considering the huge opening which is impossible now.
The content matters.the movie will have a good opening bcos of its star power but if its lack content it will keep on dropping.eg.jai ho

@Sky, yes, it had potential to cross 200cr after the kind of opening it got and people expecting it to be better or as good as Singham. The crash in the business from Tuesday onward is surprising to me as well. I think the crash in Singham R’s business is even bigger than Bodyguard’s crash.
Still it is a big success nevertheless (weren’t we expecting it to collect around 150cr before the release?), Superhit and Ajay Devgn’s highest grosser till date.

@JS — Its irritating to talk with you….D2 in 2800 screens eith normal ticket price and non holiday release earned 112 crs….it went same way as JAI HO and TAALASH in fact better than them.
@kingshuk : You guys give reference of Don (Srk movie) to downgrade Salman saying it won clash against Jaaneman but when talk about Don2 (Christmas release but 1st day was working like D3, awaited sequel wil high octane action) failure (below expectation performance) you refer to Talaash (super natural thriller n under promoted) & Jai Ho (Social drama + not a single holiday apart from sundays – Republic Day fell on sunday) !!!! If Don2 is non holiday release so was D3 n so was Talaash & Jai Ho !!!!!!!!
