The show count of two big films – Mohenjo Daro and Rustom – both scheduled to release in theatres this week, has been a talking point for several weeks now.
On paper, Mohenjo Daro was the bigger film and was expected to get higher number of shows at multiplexes. But the response to the trailer of the two films, has resulted in both films getting equal number of shows.
While the advance booking hasn’t yet opened at every centre across India, Rustom seems to holding a slight lead over Mohenjo Daro. Trade sources say, the Akshay Kumar starrer has sold about 5-10% more tickets than the Hrithik Roshan film.
However, since the advance booking has only just begun, it’s too early to call the advantage in favour of either film.
Mohenjo Daro and Rustom release in theatres on August 12.
The creators of both the movies have opened up ticket window in metros urban areas where both the film has gotten consistent reaction from the group of onlookers. Mumbai opened its ticket counter in few multiplexes where Mohenjo Daro slighter lower than Rustom. The Hrithik Roshan starrer has opened awesome in a few screens like Ashok Anil Multiplex: Ulhasnagar, Mukta A2 Cinemas: Jai Hind, Lalbaugh and Regal Cinema: Colaba where its booked its opening day tickets around 55-65% ahead of time.
Then again Rustom hugely opened in film city where it booked every one of the theaters more than 55% for the opening day. Actually it Mohenjo Daro has gotten great reaction in capital locale when contrasted with Rustom. The Hrithik Roshan’s occasional dramatization has opened with great number of theaters where its officially reserved 60% inhabitance for the opening day, while Akshay Kumar’s thriller show opened in less theaters and the film sold out 30-35% seats for its opening day.

while akki has just one 20+ cr. opening and 0 single day 25+ cr.
and akki has not win yet mohenjo daro is solid in single screens and good in plexes too just wait & watch its a predection that rustom op. day is better than MD not official figures
but-but on Pluto,Saturn and Neptune MJDs bookings are 5-10% more than Rustom.

Every Hrithik Roshan movie is widely discussed, celebrated, criticized and looked forward to. Barely 8 years old in the industry he cannot afford failures. Jodha Akbar was off to a poor start on friday in India, largely due to its limited release at multiplexes; not to forget the pathetic promotion, and many on movie forums were actually questioning his star power!
So whats the verdict on Jodha Akbar? Has the movie worked with the audience? Were the performances upto the mark? Was the ever so long wait worth it? Has it worked at the all important box-office? The answer is YES! Jodha Akbar has worked big time, with the critics and the audience! The critics especially have loved the movie and the audience reaction has been extremely positive. The performances, direction, cinematography, music, visuals, choreography almost every aspect has been praised. The only thing that has been criticized is the length.
Now the box-office verdict
India – The movie was off to a slow start on friday grossing 3.25 crores, picked up big time on saturday grossing almost 7 crores. The weedend gross (Friday – Saturday – Sunday) is expected to be around 17 crores! One more thing that is in favour of Jodha Akbar is, there is absolutely no big release for more than a month, the next big bollywood release is Race which releases on 21st March! The timing of the release has been perfect!
Overseas – Jodha Akbar had the widest release for a Bollywood movie ever! It was released in 26 countries in about 1500 prints!
United Kingdom (UK) – Jodha Akbar released on 70 prints and grossed 57,000+ pounds on the thursday night preview alone! The opening has been earth shattering and could end up just a tad below Shahrukh Khan’s Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Om Shanti Om for the weekend, which would mean its the third biggest opening in the UK for a Bollywood movie! Now for a histrocial, its a HUGE achievement!
Unites States (US) – The movie had the biggest release for a Bollywood movie ever and the openning is even bigger opening here.. It has reportedly grossed $374,000 on Friday! SRK’s Om Shanti Om grossed $385,000 on the first day of its release. Jodha Akbar has surpassed all expectations. Never in the widest of dreams would anyone have expected it to open so big.
The poor promotion, delay, negativity around the movie prior to its release; absolutely nothing seemed to have affected the movie. This is by far the biggest opening for a Hrithik Roshan movie overseas. In short, Jodha Akbar looks like a winner all the way, at home and overseas!

Yeah equal number of shows at Multiplexes but what about Single Screens. Mohenjo Daro is leading by a huge margin in Single Screens.
Indicine wont inform any1 about it because from day 1 they are at peak to spread negativity about Mohenjo Daro.
How Indicine is trying to spread negativity about Mohenjo Daro??
1. From 6 months ago, they were saying Mohenjo Daro is a big budgeted movie ( Costliest movie ever) but Mohenjo Daro is made at a budget of 115-130 crore. Bang Bang was made at budget of 140 crore and Prem ratan dhan payo at a budget of 160 crore.
2. Mohenjo Daro got selected in Locarno film festival but Indicine never bothered to inform its user about it because there will be positive vibes among neutral fans.
3. They are not informing anything about Single Screens and overseas screens. Hrithik himself said, Mohenjo Daro will insure debut of bollywood in 20 different countries . Means Mohenjo Daro can be widest release for any bollywood movie in overseas market.
4. Indicne gave 5 stars to trailer of Mohenjo Daro and 7 stars to trailer of Great Grand Masti .
5. Indicine gave 7 stars to music of Mohenjo Daro and Dishoom. Music of MD is far better then Dishoom ( Even many Akki fans and hater of Hrithik will accept this )
Never expected such cheap stuffs from Indicine. I was big fan of yours but will never trust on your website from today onwards.

If what indicine says and mohenjo daro needs 100+ to become a hit. Then its already a lost cause given that there is not a positive word of mouth bcuz well 12-13crore opening. Then if a avg word of mouth. 11-12 crore.

Monday (holiday) 15 crore
Tuesday 7crore
And then a crash to maybe have 30-40 more added till the end equalling
90-100 crores
Those who are saying Mohenjodaro will get lesser screen than rustom in this article…Grow up..Indicine clearly mentioned in multiplex…Btw Indicine cant u guys update the full story…You are the only one praising rustom all over these days and bashing Mohenjodaro…I admit the trailer was not upto the mark as because of Baahubali and Bajirao mastani the audience waa expecting a VFX extravaganza…But i m pretty much sure Mohenjodaro will open 3-4 cr more than rustom…coz of Single screens because they are more preferring Mohenjodaro as it have action and rustic feel than rustom which is a court room drama….
In Kerala nd Tamil Nadu Mohenjo Daro Buzz is Far Far better than Rustom( even though the buzz is below than previous HR movies like Baang Baang nd Krrish 3)
