Bollywood’s evergreen classic ‘Sholay’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Amjad Khan and Jaya Bachchan, will finally release in Pakistan nearly 40 years after its theatrical release in India.
Pakistani newspaper Dawan reports that the owner and managing director of Mandviwalla Entertainment, Nadeem Mandviwalla is now bringing the Bollywood blockbuster to Pakistani screens.
“Sholay is undoubtedly one of the most unique films of all time; it’s a classic that has never been released in the country. Many people have been deprived of the experience of watching it in a cinema so we feel the audience will want to come watch it, given the opportunity.” says Nadeem Mandviwalla.
The news daily also reports that the Ramesh Sippy film will be releasing on limited screen in 2D and 3D.
“The movie will not have a wide release. It will be shown at more cinemas but less shows. It’s tentatively releasing on 20 March, as 23 March will be a public holiday (on account of Pakistan Day) so people will have a wide array of movies to watch such as Jalaibee and Insurgent, which are also releasing around the same time.”
I have watched trailer of jalaibe and its awsome.. but sholay on cinema will also be a total different experience

I was shocked to see this article . 40 Saal ke baad ab jaa kar Sholay release ho rahi hai Pakistan main ! This can be described as – Der Aaye Par Durust Aaye . This just shows Sholay is really a timeless classic . Even after 40 years people want to see Sholay that means how much people love this movie . I am damn sure most of the Pakistanis must have surely seen Sholay either on TV or DVD’s as shown beautifully in Filmistaan . But seeing a movie like Sholay on big screen is an altogether different experience . I have seen Sholay numerous times on TV . But a surprising fact is i have also seen Sholay in Cinema last year . On 3rd January 2014 the 3D Version of Sholay was released . It is the first time i have seen a 3D movie . I loved the movie and it was almost housefull . Normally when i go to Cinema most of the people that come in Cinemas are Youth but when i saw Sholay many old people came and the impact of the movie is still the same . Also the effects were brilliant . Overall i am really happy to see this beautiful article . I am damn sure Sholay will rock in Pakistan . I was aware of the fact pakistan never released Sholay in theatres but all of the pakistani nris I know here have seen Sholay n all of them without doubt rate it as Indias best movie…. The ‘yeh dosti’ anthem is equally loved there as it is in India or world over. Im sure the movie will be a big hit n its a delightful movie start to finish so hope they enjoy it.
PS classics like Sholay are always better when showcased on the big screen- I have never seen it on the big screen so kudos to those who have had that pleasure.
On one hand we have one of the most iconic movies ever made in india releasing in pakistan after 40 long years and on the other we have one of the most crappiest movies ever made, ‘HNY’ releasing in china in over 5000 screens, lol what an irony!! People of china deserve movies like the timeless ‘sholay’ & not the waste less, worthless & senseless ‘happy crappy new year’, may god save the Chinese from crappy new year & our charlie’s irritating over acting.

Wow!! So sad…after 40years!! Honestly d whole nation d FEEL PERCEPTION FUN and above all d HONOUR of watching arguably d 3rd best movie in world film history after D GOOD D BAD D UGLY and D GODFATHER….in a theatre eating POPCORN with friends families relatives…..was a BIG MISS OUT for them!!!…

BTW some why some bhojpureans are crying as KING KHAN’S worst movie HNY got a huge release ,Oh I see their. perfaketionist’s best acted wannabe classic pk got half screen of HNY and bhai’s 1st 200cr crap ignored not even a single screen got I think Chinese don’t like criminals/rikshawalas ,so sad.but someone kindly inform them KING KHAN has too highest follower in china,lol.
