The press screening of ‘Shivaay’ took place at Fun Cinemas (Mumbai) at 6:30PM on Thursday. The reviews have been scathing, writing the film off as yet another disappointment this year.
But why did someone as experienced as Ajay Devgn decide to show the film to the media on Thursday evening – is something that we haven’t been able to understand. It was clear from the promos itself that ‘Shivaay’ was never going to be the kind of film that would win over the critics.
When the chances of getting those positive reviews are so low, why risk the flow of negative reviews on Thursday night itself?
A well-known trade analyst once told us that it’s unethical to publish reviews of films before 1PM on Friday and that’s how it should be. Media shouldn’t be allowed to file their reviews before the first show on Friday, even if they are shown the film on Thursday.
The trend of press screenings and Thursday night reviews is doing the industry more harm than good. It’s also ruining the experience for those who like the trailer and want to the film on Friday morning.
While negative reviews could’ve cost ‘Shivaay’ a couple of crores on Friday, the main distributor of the competing film, Fox Star Studios, took a decision last year to not show their films to the press on Thursday.
Celebs on Twitter say that they are excited to watch Shivaay but they have ready watched ADHM. Ajay Devgan trolled.
I think it’snot unethical to post reviews before first show or first day of release of the film. Why should people who go first for the movie suffer if the movie is bad. Everyone must be warned.

@MovieBuff, You may be right about the experimenting thing, but calling ADHM a crap film is not justified. I really like the movie though the ending was a bit stretched.
Bollywood become too much star oriented industry no wonder Hollywood is giving though competition to Bollywood in India and no one wants to do some unique movie even regional movie like robot and Bahubali have big breakout and there collection are similar to Bollywood bigge and i am not able to found that in Bollywood

It is a lesson to all producer’s to not arrange for any preview shows before Friday and there should also be a rule which should not allow any critics to post their reviews until monday morning. This should allow films to have a safe collections till Sunday.

I now really think Indian has really bad taste in choosing entertaining movie. Shivaay is very good movie. Indian critics give 2* to a film like Drishyam and 4* to a film like HNY.

Indian critics say Shivaay is illogical film, then what about Bahubali,PK, etc. should top the list of most illogical movies of Indian Cinema. To be fair, critics will never understand the pulse of audience. Shame on pseudo-intellectuals Indian Critics and their followers.
In bollywood, an action film will never win over the critics. What a Shame!!! If same things happen, the genre of action will surely die one day and audience should have to wait for Hollywood films for the action.

If good action is showcased in Bollywood, some pseudo-intellectuals will say its copy from Hollywood and if action isn’t upto the mark, then its remake of south craps.
Some fanbases are bashing Shivaay because it has Ajay Devgn, without watching Shivaay. These bollywood critics should be slapped for giving negative reviews for the film like Buddha in a Traffic Jam, Rustom, Guzzarish, Drishyam, Teen, etc.

I don’t care if you disagree with me but for me there is only two stars who can get a hit or superhit with bad reviews Salman khan(megarstar) and Akki, the kknd of reviews movies like Ready,D2, prdp,Hf3,Hf2 and RR were carrying extremelly bad reviews but emerged hit or Super hits. Also iamsrk sometimes rises a bove reviews example Hny but he is the few stars who made critically aclaimed folm(fan) flop.
I watched it yesterday and guys just wanna tell you that just go and enjoy it in theater’s, don’t believe these crap ,paid so called reviewers, who ruin the film.
Believe me guys i watched shivaay last night and it is a fabulos.the audiance response is extreamly positive.am not ajay fan but believe me guys it suffered very badly by the crap critic.we need to support this kind of film ,if this film would have a hollywood film the same so called critic would have gone gaga over it.

@Khalian what a joke? Gobar can make bad films work? HF3 had franchise factor which helped and it was almost a flop because depsite post ipl and solo release advantage (which shivaay doesnt have) the movie got only 14-15 cr opening and luckily survived. If gobar has stardom then what happened to all his movies released last year? Not even a single hit. So shut your mouth and stay in your limit.
