With the Diwali festivities coming to an end, the audience were back in theatres to watch the two major releases – Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay and Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
It was a good day at the box office on Monday. In the morning it was ADHM that started well, with Shivaay taking the lead late-morning / noon onwards. The two films weren’t really competing against each other as ADHM was by far the first choice at major cities, while Shivaay was recording very high occupancy at smaller centres.
The bigger the centre, the better the occupancy for ADHM, which is a big advantage to have because the average ticket price for ADHM was much higher than Shivaay. The Ranbir-Anushka starrer did not even have to perform pan-India to beat Shivaay for the fourth consecutive day.
Shivaay had volume, the footfalls (number of tickets sold) was way higher for the film, but the collections have come in lower (unconfirmed) because of lower ticket prices.
The total collections of ADHM and Shivaay on Monday was around 15% lower than the opening day collections of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo last year.
The difference between Shivaay and ADHM at the end of 4 days is Rs 7.44 crore.

If you only trust BOI figures why are you visiting here…? Every other websites including Indicine gives figures announced by the producers and what is the need to disbelieve it? Fans uses BOI figures to bash other stars and uses producer figures to justify their own stars. Why this hypocrisy? Morons like Javed, sss and Fasal Kerala bashes Hrithik and Ajay citing BOI figures but HNY opening day is always 44.97cr for them…ROFL!
If you only trust BOI then quote the same BOI figure for your favourite star as well…accept the fact that HNY did not create any opening day record and it was only 36cr…have the balls to do that? No? Then don’t try and become smart by bashing others using crap BOI’s even crappier numbers.
Coming to manipulation who can forget Lal Mirch Calculator – producer’ s figure 44 Cr, trade – 36 Cr. Single day manipulation – 8 Cr

I am supporting ADHM. But people barking manipulation of Shivaay’s box office collection need to take a chill pill.
Except for producers no one can track single screen collection especially of tier 2 and 3 towns, that can change dynamics of data upto 25%.
Also, BOI is a highly unreliable source.
Anyone who has studied basic statistics can tell they use a flawed method of calculating box office collection.
I want ADHM to do better but I support Ajay on this one.

Seen Shivaay today with family at orion mall bangalore, the hall was almost full. It is the best action movie I have seen in Bollywood. Movie is worth watching for your money, Good entertainment and great music. Why waiting folks… Go watch it now

The figure 7.44 cr you published as the difference is also the figure Ajay Relaxed Devgn manipulated acc. to BOI, the same site only which says HNY 1st day record is beaten by PRDP. So, if you want to get the actual difference, just multiply this 7.44 by 2.

I think only Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor are the stars who have not shown manipulative figure for their films ever. Aamir did not need to although, because all his films did too well to manipulate collections.

@hrithik in case of bajirao v/s dilwale bajirao was an expensive movie compare to dilwale and srk was also producer of dilwale so there was less risk and in case of shivaay v/s adhm shivaay is just double budget of adhm and like you predicted destruction opening? ??
