It’s never about casting a superstar, Shah Rukh is apt for the role: Aanand L. Rai

Filmmaker Aanand L Rai has said he would never cast a superstar like Shah Rukh Khan if the actor is not apt for the character. The ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ director said it’s not stardom but demand of the role that dictates his casting decisions.

“I always cast an actor based on the demand of the character. Casting Shah Rukh Khan is the demand of the role exactly the way it applied on Dhanush to play Kundan in ‘Raanjhnaa’ or Kangana Ranaut to play Tanu. It was never about making a film with a superstar” Rai said.

When asked about Shah Rukh’s role in the film, Rai said the audience will have to wait for the film’s release. However, the acclaimed filmmaker promised a well-crafted story.

“All I can promise my audience is that it’s a well-crafted story and after watching the film they will understand why Shah Rukh was apt to play the role. As a director I always want my actor to discover something within, and I know it will happen to him as well.” he said.

Rai also spoke about some of his productions like ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’.

“Producing a film is a very emotional job for me. In my early days, I went through a struggle with my script to find a producer for my film.. It takes years after years to meet the right producer who agrees to make a film with newcomers. As a producer when I read a good script, I try to save some of their years of struggling”

  • @MYANMAR YANGON, “All hawass ka pujari???” Shame on you, man! If you don’t know how to sympathize victims, at least don’t root for the Burmese military that have the history of killing students, dissidents, civilians and even monks? They have even tried to assassinate Suu Kyi in Depayin. Isn’t the current chief of staff, Snr Gen Min Aung Hlaing, a puppet of ex-despot Than Shwe?

The military use ‘Divide and Rule’ tactic to hold their grip on power. Are not they launching offensive on other ethnic minorities of other religions?

I don’t think you have ever any Rohingya personally and hear their stories. I don’t think you have ever been to their state, Rakhine? All you know is through the controlled Burmese state media which may never tell you the truth of their killings in Rakhine. Better open your eyes!

United Nations call them the world’s most persecuted people. HRW and ISCI say they are victims of ethnic cleansing. Why? Are they Rohingya controlled organizations.

You may hate them because they are Muslims. But mind you most of them are the followers of peaceful Sufi version of Islam, not Wahhabism! But at least if you are a human being, try to find out the truth.

I, myself, is not a Rohingya but I know enough about them and Myanmar.

If not, you may continue to dwell in their hatred and the hatred of others may burn down your soul. Or show us your humanity is based on certain races and creeds! Your choice!

    I

  • @Anand Malaysia, I knew the truth but @mad force to me reply that way. I never hate Muslim even I have many friends Muslim but those stupid Bangladeshi destroy rohinga community. Sometimes I bash them coz of stupid fellow person.

  • @MYANMAR YANGON, I understand what you say. But I still think you have been blindfolded by the military controlled state’s propaganda media.
I again say I don’t think you have ever met any Rohingya personally and heard their stories. I don’t think you have ever been to their state, Rakhine, have you? All you know is through its state media, which is full of lies. You too know that.
And coming to alleging Rohingyas to be ‘ those stupid Bangladeshis,’ I have following questions to you.

    1) you are showing you are xenophobic towards Bangladeshis although you yourself could be one of those Bangladeshi or today’s Indian origin because hardly are there any Hindus in Myanmar who look like or are of Sino-Burman origin.

    2) If they are really Bangladeshis, Bangladesh has come into existence in 1971 and these people have been living at least before Burmese independence.

    3) If they are really Bangladeshis, why don’t Burmese government ask Bangladesh government to accept its people back and finish the matter?
Although the Rohingya are widely known as illegal immigrants among Burmese society as it was spread so by the government’s media, have you ever heard the Burmese Government asking Bangladesh Gov’t to accept its people back? Why?
Have you ever heard that Burmese Gov’t saying that it would deport all these Rohingyas to Bangladesh officially? Rather, the Burmese gov’t accepted thousands of Rohingya refugees back from Bangladesh under the mediation of UNHCR in 1994.

These all lead to a conclusion that what everyone knows through Burmese military controlled media are purported lies most of the time and do so to implement ‘Divide and Rule’ tactic to hold its grip on power.

Let me remind you about its history about bloody clashes with other people.
Anti-Indian ‘Shetty or Chitti’ (Hindu) Riots in 1930s known as Kular-Bama Riots
    Anti-Chinese Riots in 1970s
Military Offensives on Ethnic Groups such as Christian Kachins and Karens and many.

Hope understand. I can explain you only this much.

Open your heart and spread your love
To the world cause you’re all the same
Let there be peace, let there be faith
    Ab mere sang kaho.. Jai Ho… :D :D :D
