Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, arguably the most successful on-screen couple in the history of Indian Cinema, started their careers in 1992. Shahrukh made his debut in a film titled ‘Deewana’, while Kajol was first seen in ’Bekhudi’.

@babaji, well it just depend on your taste….because k3g, k2h2 and ddlj are never ever rated as over the top performances(may be by thier haters)…i think you still don’t know the difference btw occasional overacted peroformance and over the top performance…yes i agree that there some amount of overacting in them but that don’t make them over the top.
k3g – srk’s performance was loved the most in the film. many said that srk outshined hrithik at each and every scene(even though for me both were equally good). kajol was also loved.
ddlj – rated as one of the most iconic and most memorable performances ever in the history of b’town. it’s rated in srk’s top 5 best performance. kajol was also suberb.
k2h2 – srk was good(was a bit ott in some scenes though). kajol was suberb.
there is alot difference btw ott performance and the one where an actor overplay some part
of his role. that’s why you will find some people rating srk’s performances as over the top.
but as i said that srk only overplay some parts of his role(acts well atleast in 75% of his role so what if he well be over the top in the remaining parts). but these srk haters are to much double-standard because the well rate srk performance as over the top but not when there favorites overplay there roles in some parts.
and it’s not only abt srk because aamir and hrithik also have occasional over acted performances:
Aamir – ANDAZ APNA PANA, RAJA HINDUSTANI, MANGAL PANDEY, RANG DI BASANTI, 3 IDIOTS AND PK(overall he was great but there are some scenes where he just goes over the top as an alien)
and iam not even talking abt his overacting in tum mere ho, mela and d3.
HRITHIK – mission kashmir, yaadien, lakshya, krrish, krrish3, kites, mujhse dosti karoge.
and iam not even talking abt his over the top acting in mpkdh(not only this one but according to one my friends there was simply too much of overacting in aap mujhe ache lagne lagi but iam yet to watch it).
you can’t call 3 idiots a bad film just for the fact that it had some flaws. you can’t call hrithik as a bad actor just for the fact that he is not natural, can’t act in comedies, romantic roles or can’t play som unsubtle roles…waise chaand main bhi tu daag hote hai iska matlab yeh tun nhn ki hum chaand ko dekhna band karen!
p.s BABAJI, well nothing against you because you always remained one of my fav users in the
site but i don’t like when some people fail to understand the difference btw over the top performance and occasional overacted performances…even ghajni of aamir had overacting through the film(both as a person with short tempered memory loss as well as sanjay). i mean just look at his eyes when he gets upset and also watch his acting as sanjay in some comedy scenes. he is bloody over the top.

i meant that even ghajni is rated as great performance by you(even i rate his performance as a great peformance) but that film had overacting through the film.
my rating –
ddlj – without any doubt one of the best romantic films and one of the best performances by any actor in rom-com genre. the 2nd half could have been shorter though. 4/5
baazigar – don’t know how many times i have watched this film but it’s without any doubt one of the most watched films of srk. didn’t liked some forced comedy scenes as well some over the top drama though. 3.5/5
mnik – loved this one too but it has some over dramatic scenes with some loud background music.first half was better than script as well as some unnecessary drama in the 2nd half. 3.5/5
k2h2- typical bollywood film with some awesome scenes and it’s still one of the most loved romantic films but for me it could have been better. 3/5
karan arjun – a great masala for it’s time. 3/5
k3g – forgettable and typical bollywood film with some over the top drama. 2.5/5
P.S i i think kabhi haan kabhi naa was an equally good romantic film along with ddlj as well as the best performance by an actor in such films so i didn’t rated ddlj as the best.

I was in 9th standard when the movie released and I watched k3g with all my family, I didn’t like Kajol during those days but every member of my family loved the kajol performance the most,even in theatre Kajol was the saving grace for k3g because the movie was full of nelo drama,long dialogues and speeches but it was kajol who pulled the film, even on the newspapers which were only source for us for Bollywood,was said that Kajol shined in that film the most, and she was the only person who got award for k3g.
@yymithaiwala I don’t agry with you as it is just perception of every body,you are saying srk performance love the most in k3g but I never read or heard that when the movie released and k3g was most awaited film for me in 2001 as it was srk-bigb again after mohabbatein which I loved the most among any srk film that time,regarding kkhh it’s kajol who dominated in that film, srk was much appreciated in ddlj but in k3g and k2h2 it was kajol the most.
Regarding overacting every actor does that but srk did too much in k3g.Even people around mine didn’t liked Veer Zaara, I was only one among my friend and family who watched vz in theatre and liked that,many said that it was long boring film,srk overacted in aged role but I didnt felt the same,it just matter of perception of individual.

Haha kia yaad kara dia…last week some one asked me to watch a comedy scene…then he showed me the ending moments of HAHK when salman was in church…..I laughed too much but at the end I realized that it was a serious emotional scene…..Sometimes bhai cannot act and when he decide to do then overact…..
BTW Srk won Filmfare for MNIK…I hope sallu bhai win OSCAR for wonderful acting as Filmfare,National do not justify his acting talent.
