Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Hope Productions have joined hands to produce ‘English Vinglish’ director Gauri Shinde’s next film that will star Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
Producer Karan Johar took Twitter to make one of the biggest announcements of the year. He posted “Red Chillies Entertainment… Dharma and Hope Productions are proud to present Gauri Shinde’s next starring… SHAH RUKH KHAN and ALIA BHATT…”
Earlier, Gauri had announced that she would be directing her next film, but didn’t reveal anything about the star cast “Yes I am making my next film script done… well almost… going on the floors soon. Looking forward to be back in action”
Excited by the announcement, Alia Bhatt posted that she can’t wait to work with SRK
“Will no longer have any problem with my English Vinglish.. can’t wait to be directed by Gauri Shinde with the man himself Shahrukh Khan!!!”
This is the first time SRK and Alia will be seen together on-screen, which is the second directorial of Gauri Shinde after the worldwide success of ‘English Vinglish’ starring Sridevi in the lead.
However, SRK and Alia will not be seen opposite each other in the film. A source close to the project said “It’s a different, beautiful story about love. You cannot call it a love story, because Shah Rukh and Alia are not opposite each other. Shah Rukh is too old to be Alia’s lover”
If insider reports are to be believed, this untitled film follows the journey of a young girl who dates three men in her life and with each new relationship, discovers a new perspective on life.
The film will go on floors after the release of SRK’s Dilwale. Further details about the film is expected to out soon.

It is so funny that SRK fans have been assuming that Fan, Raees and this Gauri Shinde next would all be content-driven films. ?

It cannot be a romantic film, as SRK-Kat jodi in JTHJ was very unconvincing. SRK-Anushka worked in RNBDJ because SRK was playing an older character and story revolved around a young girl getting married with an older man in emergency. Alia Bhatt looks a decade younger than both Kat and Anushka.
So, I don’t think they will be romancing with each other. But, I think it will be very interesting project, Gauri Shinde did a great job with English Vinglish.
My first reaction after reading this news yesterday was Hahaha. Srk-alia pair looks very odd. But I hope the story and treatment will be different. Gauri shindey has directed a brilliant movie, so I hope this film also follow the same brilliance in content wise, though it comes from dharma-red chillies the expectation of better content remain less.

The casting confirmed that its not going to be a regular romantic-masala or rom-com type movie.If they wanted to make a romantic movie then they would have casted mature heroines or younger hero for Alia.But this pairing shows that there is something interesting and non conventional is coming with this movie…
