After a promising weekend, Satyagraha has failed the Monday test at the domestic box office. The film has dropped by more than 54% from Friday, which is disappointing as the Friday business itself was below the mark for such a wide release. The film has dropped across all circuits except Delhi/UP and Bihar.
The Prakash Jha film had shown decent growth in business over the weekend, but the Monday drop means that the film will struggle to recover its costs through its theatrical business.
The first week collections should easily cross the 50 crore mark and end up with business of around 56 crores in 7 days. With two new films releasing this weekend (Zanjeer and Shuddh Desi Romance), Satyagraha will find the going tough from Week 2.
On Tuesday, the morning shows witnessed a further drop in business. A few circuits in the North are holding up better, but in other parts of the country the film is going down quickly. Tuesday business is likely to be around 4.5 – 4.75 crore net
