‘Sarbjit’ was poor on Day 1 at the domestic box office, as the film has collected Rs 3.69 crore. There were expectations that the film would take a 4 crore plus opening, because the trailer (even though it was depressing and hard-hitting) was received well.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s previous film ‘Jazbaa’ had also opened at around the 4.25 crore mark. But ‘Sarbjit’ has been poor all over. The film was beaten at multiplexes by ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. Not only did the Hollywood film take a better opening, it also showed growth towards the end of the day.
‘Sarbjit’ picked up at multiplexes too, but the initial that the film got on Friday morning was too low.
The fate of the film is now almost entirely dependent on the growth that it manages on Saturday. It has to be somewhere in the range of 35-40% (or more) for the film to have any chance of recovering costs.
#IndicineFBO: We predicted Rs 4.2 crore as the opening day collections of ‘Sarbjit’. The film has collected Rs 3.69 crore. The difference between our prediction and the actual collection is 12% – which makes it an ‘accurate’ prediction.
