One of the industry’s most renowned scriptwriters, Salim Khan, has ‘refused’ to accept India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri, saying he deserved better.
A leading daily quoted Salman Khan’s father as saying “Refused is too strong a word since I have nothing against the awards. I just think that after 55 years and over 40 films, I deserve more than a Padma Shri for my contributions to Hindi cinema, given that my juniors have already got it years before. Even my erstwhile partner, Javed Akhtar, received both a Padma Shri and a Padma Bhushan.”

Khan said that he wouldn’t accept the Padma Bhushan (India’s third highest civilian award) either because it would now set a bad example.
When asked if he has any issues with the ruling party headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Salim Khan said “Modi Saab and I share a relationship of mutual respect that goes back to before he became a PM and is beyond all this”

I think someone is misusing Arjun Kapoor Fan id. Yes, Sambuddha used to write not-so-good comments sometimes but he wasn’t so blunt and arrogant. This new Arjun fan is deliberately writing nasty things about Salman and Ajay so that their fans will abuse Arjun!
He may be right that he should have got this honor earlier in his career, but there have been many cases where legends have received it so late in their career. At least up coming generation will know that he got a Padma Shree award, nobody will remember how late it was. So, I think he should accept it, as an Indian, nobody should disrespect these type of honors.
Everybody is bringing up Saif Ali Khan’s case, remember he’s a “Nawab”, means he has connection with higher authorities.
Actors like Ajay and Hrithik should also win it as soon as possible, even if it does take time, I think they will get it eventually, just like Salim Sahab. I hope he accepts it, otherwise it will surely start to lose its prestige.
