‘My choice of films will never change’ – Salman Khan

‘Pavan Kumar Chaturvedi’, Salman Khan’s much-loved character in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, has deeply touched audiences all over India. The Kabir Khan directed film beautifully portrayed the relationship between an Indian man and a little girl from Pakistan.

Salman himself has admitted that ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ has had a huge impact on his outlook towards life.

The superstar said “This film has changed my outlook towards life. The way I used to see or lead my life before the film is way different from how I perceive it now. I guess I have become a lot calmer with this film.”

However, the actor says that his choice of films will never change.

“I have been there for 27 years and I’ve done almost 50-60 films. Every six-seven years, I have done something like this. So Bajrangi Bhaijaan isn’t new to me. Suddenly, people are like, ‘Oh, Salman did something different’. But they forget that I did a Tere Naam, a Kyon Ki much before. I did a film called Baghban, at the time I was doing some hardcore action films. But that actor was likeable and should be loved. You should play such characters. I have always made those shifts and will continue doing the same.”

“There needs to be variation. Because if I don’t do that, people will again say that Salman is doing the same. I did five action films and they said that. I did a Bajrangi and they stopped. If I do five back-to-back films in the same space as Bajrangi, audiences will again say the same thing.”

The superstar also added that he makes a conscious effort to not bore the audience by making the same kind of films.

“The bigger the hits, the faster you get bored of watching the same type of films. I thought Hum Saath Saath Hain was a much better film than Hum Aapke Hai.. Koun?, but the latter already ran for over four years and then when you watched Hum Saath Saath Hain, you felt, ‘Arre yeh toh dekhi picture hai’.”

Salman’s upcoming films include Sooraj Barjatya’s family drama ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and Yash Raj Films’ 2016 Eid release ‘Sultan’, a fiction film where he plays the role of Sultan Ali Khan.

His mind-boggling success in the last few years can also be attributed to his choice of films, director, production house and the effort that he puts into marketing his films.

  • @nipun Baghban is a avg film? Seriously.
The movie connect most of the parents and children’s when it released, despite being that movie was riding on big b soldier as Salman was in guest appearance. It scored huge and was in top 5 hit of the year.
K3G was a family drama but that movie was too over the top, when k3g released I loved the movie as that time audience like that kind of film but after 4-5 years I can’t able to bear that film anymore while Baghban is still watchable in present case. Baghban is the movie which connects more to audiences. Its a fact.

@Rohit not agree to you much.
For example MPK didn’t set the trend of romantic films though it had big success but that doesn’t mean it started the trend. The love story with melodies bring back with QSQT which followed by Chandani directed by yash ji than came MPK.
Hahk was definitely a path breaking movie, it set trend of family dramas in Bollywood with practically no villain kind of theme, box office milestone in both India and overseas.
Masala movie trend was started with Ghajini, which became all time grosser, which also started 100cr club which is now essential for a superstar to achieve with each film.
Followed by wanted by Salman, than he repeated with Dabangg. Ghajini also set the trend that before ghajini movies were never promoted as a remake whether it lifted from Hollywood or south except if taken from Bollywood but after ghajini, producer and actors were open for accepting to remake a film even before it goes on floor.
3i didn’t set any trend but it was most loved film of recent times, though it has only one trend which is huge leap in box office market in India.

Similarly PK and BB didn’t set any trend so far except there box office figures, we can’t say now that these films set any trends practically atlease in next 2-3 years.

  • @imdhakkan I m very happy seeing u back from ICU…pretty gud recovery …..take medicine regularly…OK…PRDP is coming so get well soon..

  • Why are these haters bashing Indicine articles on SK etc. its their jobs to post articles that relate to any celebrity, I agree in the past they only favoured SRK but has come to the realization that the fans of SK far now out number all others and therefore will post info relating to current trend of movies, the articles vary but you haters can’t seem to see beyond your noses, and you keep harping on the past, piece of advice forget those things which are behind and press towards the changes of life, if you keep looking back you will never be able to grasp the future. So get off indicine back and the backs of those people you hate so much and get a realistic look at your own life clean that up first before trying to clean up others

  • @iamdhakkan

    mind it .
And one thing more please stop giving ur views on film first tell ur srk to make a watchable tortureless film else keep quite .

  • @Sky

Agree on your point about QSQT & Ghajni.
But trend starts when you get huge success thats why i said MPK.Because the success what MPK got was not achieved by any film before that & not after.

Yes Ghajni introduced masala genre but i think Ghajni & Wanted are not sure masala films.
Because the formula set by Dabangg(Extra Large image of hero+hard core action+item song) was copied & became trend.

So thats why i prefered MPK over QSPT & Dabangg over Ghajni & Wanted.

Yes the promotion strategis set by Aamir always got followed by bollywood.

He started aggressive promotions with Ghajni & 3idiots & the trend is still in bollywood.
Some actors started releasing posters 1year before release…even now they are releasing teasers of films more than 1year before release.

But if you observe then now Aamir changed the promotion trend & since D3 & PK he focussed on less promotions.(Even they released just teaser of PK).

Trailers of Kick & BB released hardly 40days before release date.
Same will be with PRDP.May be they release it few days early than as usual due to extra number of songs.

But all these films got huge success compared to 1year promoted films.

Moral is Aamir & Salman are trend setters in every department.

And for your point on BB & PK.
You said its not possible to make films like that.
But even films like QSQT & MPK also not happened despite trying several times.

HAHK kind of films tried after that with OJJ,HSSH,K3G but no one got that success.

Same with Dabangg. So many cop oriented films came & with masala genre but no one matched the standard…even Salman not came near it with its sequel.

So as matching BB&PK is not possible.
But as i am saying people might try emotional films in future due to huge success of these films.

After all due to that we are saying trend setting films.

  • Salman khan film has everything except script but still gives blockbuster and now other actor can say that. with good scripts actor’s are struggling to reach 70 crores
