Karan Malhotra’s last film ‘Agneepath’ was the 4th highest grosser of 2012, after Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2 and Rowdy Rathore. When the film released in January 2012, it recorded the highest opening day collections ever - the record was eventually broken by Ek Tha Tiger in the same year.
3 years after the release of ‘Agneepath’, Malhotra released his second film ‘Brothers’, which has also taken a good opening at the box office.
In 3 days, Agneepath collected Rs 48.72 crore and had just one holiday for Republic Day. In comparison, Brothers has collected Rs 52.08 crore with two holidays – Independence Day and Sunday.
The average ticket price when Agneepath released was around Rs 95-96. For Brothers, it’s around Rs 125 – 130.

Note: Agneepath collected $6.1 million at the overseas box office. But the dollar rate in January 2012 was Rs 52.
Don’t worry, Brothers would only crawl into 100 Crores. That too looks difficult as Manjhi is coming next week.
Still Agneepath is leading in many terms even after 3 years.

Agneepath is way ahead….if screen size,avg ticket price,dollar rate would be same as Brothers….then It would collect min 160 cr…..and It gave Highest Single Day Collection…despite of all these problems :-)…though who wl say HR was not responsible for this success….go and watch pogo ;-)

after the release of drishyam and brothers its clear that there are only 4 superstars in bollywood who can make an average movie collect good and a good movie collect fantastic numbers….. akshay and ajay are just seasonal stars…an opening of 15 cr shows akshay his real stardom…even on independence day only 22 cr equal to 3 years old agneepath..

Ajay’s SR collected huge 32cr nett on independence day last year. Sid+akki starer brothers have collected only 21cr on this independence day. Hence, Ajay is alone way bigger star than the combo Sid+akki…..Doob Marne wali Sharm ki Baat….!!!
Hrithik is any day a bigger star than Akshay. Akshay is big at small towns, but city audience don’t watch his movies.

Akshay should really attempt feel-good films. It’s the most successful genre so far. Even badly trending films like Dil Dhadakne Do broke even! Thrillers and action films are pulling him down commercially.
I am pretty sure if Umesh Shukla gets the script right like he did with OMG, even All is Well (with no stars or strong promotion) will break even. Gone are the days when promotions decided the fate of the film. You need entertainment value!
Going by the response I feel Karan Malhotra overdid the melodrama and diluted the content. Also the original film had received appreciation but was not a boxoffice blockbuster. Action films have a limited appeal. And adding excessive melodrama in an action film has spoiled the fun for true-blue action film lovers!
Genuine adaptations work (haider) but people want to watch “Films” these days, not “projects”!

Brothers is better than Agneepath because of action scenes both movies are emotional.
Brothers will pass Monday test and easily go beyond 100 crore and beat Agneepath 120 crore record.

Something went terribly wrong with this film,I thought the buzz was quite there as it was first of its kind of film in India but sadly it didn’t translated into the collections!!
One sub distributor has told me on twitter that he has been informed by some exhibitors that Brothers isn’t appealing to the female audiences at all.

The USP of the film was MMA fighting BT even that iz not up to the mark .
They shoot for 50 days juxt 4 MMA fighting scenes nd still the scenes were nothing 2 shout about .
