The Rajasthan High Court has acquitted Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
Salman had appealed before the high court challenging the lower court’s verdict that had handed him one and five years’ imprisonment, respectively, in the two separate cases of poaching.
The hearing was completed in these cases in the last week of May and the decision was reserved by the high court.
Khan and seven others were accused of killing a blackbuck and chinkara in two separate incidents while shooting for the film Hum Sath Sath Hain.
One of the animals was killed at Bhawad on the outskirts of Jodhpur on September 26, 1998, and the other at Ghoda Farms on September 28, 1998.

Finally relief for Salman and his fans after 18 years . It is difficult to say whether Salman was innocent or guilty in this crime . The one thing that really makes me angry is it took 18 years to pronounce the verdict on this case . Salman getting acquitted or convicted should have been done long time back . In 1998 Salman was 32 and now Salman is 50 . Hit and Run Case is still pending in the Supreme Court and we will see whether SC gives a clean chit to Salman or he gets convicted . I hope the court proceedings become more fasttrack and justice should not take 15 to 20 years .

If this decision came against salman, then people would say court has given very good verdict. Jab yehi court sabse payara hota.
Money power wins ,salman is the only celebrity who runs over innocent victims on road,kills endangered animals ,insults women and yet walks Scott free,this shows that in India how being rich and influential gives u the power to do any crime and get over it ,shame on salman,this is a defeat and mockery of the judiciary system,he may be a megastar but as a person he is a looser ,no respect for him
I really feel pity for those who keep on defending their idol by saying “Many endangered species are being killed in different parts of India, how many cases have been registered “, “Multiple road accidents take place every day, why you should go gaga over Salman’s hit-n-run then” ?
I mean how one can be so ignorant? Their (celebrities) cases are over-hyped by the media because they are treated as ‘icons’ by their followers and thus, their acts directly leave an impression over the followers mind and thoughts.
Or else if we go by this logic , SRK should not have punished for Wankhede incident because such incidents take place every day in almost every ‘civilized’ society of our country. But then why such a strict punishment (yes, six years of ban from entering a public place is indeed a strict punishment because it directly infringes the fundamental rights of a person “Freedom of movement -Article 19” ) was imposed on SRK ?
Reason is simple, his acts have a direct impact on his followers and thus a strict action against him was necessary in order to strengthen the saying “No body is above the law”.
Also, we appoint these celebrities as brand ambassador for various social causes (e.g. Amitabh for Beti Bachao, Amir for incredible India) for the same reason so that their followers can idolize those principles and incorporate among themselves.
Else if celebrities and commoner were supposed to be treated equally, then we might have seen “Naveen Aunt” representing the “All India Oppressed and Exploited Women association”, Yuvraj (indicine user not the real one :P) promoting “Save the Village” campaign and Chuha the real coward promoting the “BJP Quit India” campaign.
But unfortunately, it doesn’t work in that way.
Thats why some salman fans are hated by other salman true fans: because they will always support salman even if he is guilty. ..
