Through social media websites like Twitter and Facebook, Salman Khan fans have managed to catch the attention of both the mainstream media, industry and people who matter. The request is to confer Salman Khan with the National Award for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.
Now, veteran actress Raakhee Gulzar, who famously played Shahrukh and Salman’s mother in ‘Karan Arjun’, has also come out in support of the three main men behind ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’; script-writer Vijayendra Prasad, director Kabir Khan and lead star Salman.
Celebrating her 68th birthday, Raakhee said that she was bowled over by the message of Indo-Pak relationship that ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ portrays in a brilliant way.
“This is Salman’s best performance and by far his most important film to date. The film’s message of hope, peace and friendship across the border filled my heart with joy. I haven’t felt so good watching a film for a very long time. For the first time I felt there is hope of peace between the two countries.”
Talking about Salman, Raakhee, who was last seen as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s mother in ‘Dil Ka Rishta’ (2003), said “He excels at playing innocent characters. In the last 20 minutes of Bodyguard he was taken for a ride by the two women. In Bajrangi Bhaijaan again he is a naïve man pushed around by everyone. As a fellow-actor I could see Salman was not faking any of the emotions. He felt every minute of his role. The team would’ve been in serious trouble if they had gone wrong with the politics or religion of the theme. The writer Vijeyendra Prasad, the director Kabir Khan and Salman should get National awards.”
Raakhee was considered to be one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of her time. With 16 Filmfare nominations, she holds the record for being the most ‘nominated’ actresses ever.
Yes, they all deserve national awards for giving new hopes to peace between Indo and Pak and also exposing the corruptions in the countries without hurting anyone’s sentiments..
Having said that, Salman Bhai is above all these awards..

Kabir khan for best director, and best story to Vijendra prasad
Based on what? Salman Khans performance was average, better than most of his other performances, probably of the same quality as his performance in ‘Tere Naam’. Salman Khan didn’t deliver a national award worthy performance, and forget him, even Aamir Khan has never been awarded a ‘National award for best actor’ (he got a ‘special mention’ award for his role in the film ‘Earth’ If i remember). Salman Khan winning for Bhajrangi Bhaijaan would be a disservice to other more talented actors! The national award has intergrity at its heart and only a few times has its integrity ever been questioned, let it remain like that.
I’m sure bhajrangi bhaijaan will sweep all the audience voted awards, that will be the level of success it deserves and should deserve, I too loved the film and will vote for it at the audience led awards!
As for those questioning the filmfare awards and why SRK has won so many, has anyone stopped to think that Filmfare awards are based 50% on audience votes? This audience consists of fans, if a performance is ‘liked’ by the general audience and some critics tend to agree, then it stands a great chance of winning a filmfare award, take into account SRKs massive fan following and it should be clear why he has won many times, its also the reason why Aamir Khan hasn’t been as successful and why Salman Khan stands a great chance of winning for Bhajrangi Bhaijaan this year!

Raakhee Gulzar if you would have said Tiny Amir is taller than Amitab Bachan instead of saying that kabir vijyendra especially Salman deserves national award people would have believed & laughed less than they are laughing now because of your statement . How did you even say this when even a 6 years old girl Harshali did better act than Salman in Nawazuddin Bhaijaan? When nawaz himself did way better act than Salman in the film & when salman was overshadowed badly by both of them in the movie? which every viewer has said that!! please Raakhee visit doctor and let us sure that you’re not out of mind but we all know including Bhojpuritards that only a person who is out of mind can say such things, you’ve made the biggest joke ever by saying this & bigger joke than this is that acc to some bhojpuritards their non-actor performance in Dabangg (where the factory of overacting broke every record of overacting) deserves national for it but SRK doesn’t deserves for performances like CDI, Swades, Dil se, MNIK etc .. Salman should be happy only with his Golden Kela & Ghanta award which he wins every year by giving movies like Ready, Bodyguard, Kick etc and has already made the biggest record of winning back to back Ghanta award 3 times & if we follow his fans logic then their non-actor idol only loves to Buy Ghanta & Kela award, doesn’t like to miss a single chance to buy Ghanta/Kela award every year..
By the way how pure National award is it has been proved in 2004 already by giving it to saif for an average performance in hum tum instead of SRK for Swades which is one of the best movies / performances not just in India but in the entire World. same case for 1998 when they gave it to Zakhm instead of an epic film/performance like Dil se. as well as they have ignored a films / performances like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Chak de India & My Name Is Khan & many more deserving Indian films & at the end Filmfare will remain the best & pure award ever.
