Akshay Kumar’s Rustom is all set to emerge a ‘Super Hit’ at the domestic box office, as the film was outstanding on the partial holiday for Raksha Bandhan. The film has collected Rs 8.62 crore on Thursday, taking its first week total above the 90 crore mark.
Rustom is the highest ever first week total for a film starring Akshay Kumar in the lead. The film will cross the 100 crore mark by the end of its second weekend (outside chance of doing so tomorrow itself) and also become the third consecutive 100 crore grosser for the superstar. It’s a record that no other actor in the industry has achieved.
Looking at the strong hold of Rustom on 2nd Friday, the film could challenge the lifetime business of films like Airlift and Rowdy Rathore to become the highest ever grosser for Akshay.
The new release this week – Happy Bhaag Jayegi – has opened poorly and Rustom is running at 2-3 times the occupancy at multiplexes as compared to the new release. Some shows in metro cities were houseful even on the 8th day.

rustom is doing amazing collections even with mixed wom but I still feel of disappointed with the film as I expectation very good film from akki sir which will boost the collections more than 150cr for sure and that will be big slap haters and indicine when she said there is no chance to rustom to cross 150 cr

This itself proves that noone cares when Akki manipulates because collections are too low to make any difference. He should be compared with Siddharth and Varun. At 70 – 90 noone cares.. 140 to 180 people do care.. percentage is same, but people care only when collections are bigger.
Even with BOI numbers of a rejected and clash film like Bang Bang.. it’s higher than Akki’s career highest Rowdy..

It’s all fluke. We all know his real stardom. Stop calling him superstar. Not a single 20 cr+ opener, no movie above 140 cr, not a single HGOTY, highest number of flops. These all doesn’t make one a superstar. First prove your real aukaat first. Superstar is the word used only for those who truly are. Currently only khans are superstars. Period. Like it or hate it. Nothing will change. I am not hrithik fan but I still say without hesitation that he is bigger star than akshay. Akshay is nearing 50 and still he has not achieved a proper stardom. 2016 is a fluke year for him. His original limit is 80-90 cr. That’s all.
Today 100 cr is not a big deal. If Aamir will start doing 3-4 films then all will cross 250 cr and 300 cr easily and 1 will even cross 350 cr.
