In the last couple of years or so, the length of feature films has become an important factor to break opening day and weekend records. If the runtime is more than 160 minutes, it becomes difficult for exhibitors to accommodate 5 or 6 shows per screen.
For example, most multiplexes and single screens begin the day with shows starting from 10AM, noon show at 1PM, evening show at 4PM, night show at 7PM and late night show at 10PM. The gap between each show is usually 3 hours, which includes a 5-7 minute interval break and additional time for cleaning and attached theatrical trailers. When a film is longer than 3 hours like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, then exhibitors have to either start the morning show early or cancel one show a day which results in loss of revenue.
One of the reasons why last year’s Eid release Ek Tha Tiger managed to break the record of Bodyguard by such a huge margin is because the runtime of the film was just 132 minutes. Even this year’s biggest blockbuster Chennai Express too was shorter than most biggies. For these films, exhibitors could easily squeeze in 6 to 7 shows per screen, which results in 20 to 30% more revenue for big budget releases that open to packed houses on Day 1.

in his first six yrs hr had outgrossed every actor 5 times wid 5 biggest hit of d yr 3 ff bst actor award n 1 ff critics bst actor award, in nxt 8 yrs he floped in only 2010 lets c if ranbir doesnt flops more than once in nxt 8 yrs now answer to that …n ps ranbir never scored more than khans ever , hr did it in 2000, 2001, 2003, twice in 2006 ranbirs six yr nothin compared to hr first six lets c if in nxt 8 yrs ranbirs has movie lik ja, znmd n performance lik guzaarish, agneepath
when that KACHRA movies like Chennai Xpress and YJHD can make a record so definitely Krrish-3 will have to destroy the all records……
And whatever akki’s movies can not collect well but if we have compare Boss to Chennai bakwas Bosss… is awesome movieeeeee
and one thing to be a fan of akki i agree that if Emran hashmi played a role of Shoaib Khan movie was 100% entered in 100cr Club…………….

Please note in first six yrs ff best film award 2000, 2003, in nxt 8yr-ja, znmd both not his fathers in this 8 yr his films missed ff bst film nomination only wid kites n never missed nominated bst actor even once any yr including bad 2010 wid guzaarish lets c if ranbir never misses a nomination once he started good wid besharam thou now answer me plz

Comparison btwn actors is d worst justice to their efforts of entertainin us both hr n ranbir r v good actors few misgivin apart lik anjana anjani, besharam or kites they rarely disappoint every actor chooses his own path to stardom akki does by makin many movies thus more chances ajay does by doin differen movies khans succeded in their own way hr gives his life for it so able to do few movies n ranbir likwis chooses novel concepts ,in post khan era hr n ranbir wil ensure industry doesnt starv of superstar entertainment so plz never compare them respect how they give their all to cheer us up every friday or festival …. cheers to all of them
Yes,a shorter runtime helps the movie get more shows at multiplexes and thus enables them to break opening records..but there is a well noted fact that krrish 3 will release on excess of 4000 screens which should compensate for the slightly longer runtime as compared to other biggies
All the people saying Krrish3 is gonna be kid’s movies and its looks cartoonish. Remember same things were said when KMG and Krrish released. And as far as I remember they turned biggest blockbuster of their respective year (well in case of Krrish second highest but the first one was another Hrithik starrer Dhoom2 only). So I would just say don’t judge a book by its cover. Wait for 3 days result will be out there for everyone to see.
Even thor: the dark world comes only a week after krrish 3, i really hope rakesh roshan learns from that? movie as to how to make a superhero movie without making it look like a cartoon.?
