Rowdy Rathore has gone past Agneepath (first 3 days) and Housefull 2 as the biggest opening weekend grosser of 2012. The film, that marked the comeback of Akshay Kumar to the action genre, has worked big time at single-screens and picked up well at multiplexes on Saturday and Sunday.
The film managed 15 crores on Friday, 14.75 crores on Saturday and about 18 crores on Sunday to take the weekend total to 48 crores (approx). The first Monday is always crucial, and going by the early reports that we have been receiving, the film has managed to sustain well.
Rowdy Rathore now has every chance of beating Agneepath, which is the biggest grosser of the year so far. The film will also be Akshay’s second in the 100 crore club, as he is likely to join Shahrukh Khan (Don 2, Ra One), Aamir Khan (Ghajini, 3 Idiots) and Ajay Devgan (Golmaal 3, Singham). Salman Khan is the only actor to have three 100 crore grossers.
