Rohan Sippy starts ‘Sonali Cable’, celebrates success of Nautanki

After the success of “Nautanki Saala”, director Rohan Sippy has started shooting for his next film “Sonali Cable”. He says the best way to celebrate a film’s success is to start a new one.

“Immediately, we start a production ‘Sonali Cable’ with an interesting script and it goes on floors tomorrow (Wednesday). The best way to celebrate a film is to start the next film,” Sippy said here Tuesday at the success party of “Nautanki Saala”.

“Sonali Cable” will be directed by Charudutt Acharya, who had earlier written the dialogues of “Dum Maro Dum” and the screenplay of “Nautanki Saala”.

The film features newcomer Raghav Juyal of “Dance India Dance” fame and Rhea Chakraborty.

Asked why he has cast newcomers, Sippy said: “They are not absolute newcomers. There is Rhea Chakraborty, who was seen in ‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’ and there is Anupam Kher.”

What is “Sonali Cable” all about?

“It’s the story of an underdog set in Mumbai, a girl who takes on the system and it is a great script. A very talented scriptwriter and director is making his debut and I think you all will be excited when we start the promotions,” he said.

  • Nautanki Saala collections are not holding up on weekdays as Tuesday saw the collections fall over 20% from the previous day. The circuits where the film was doing better like Delhi/UP and East Punjab are coming down very quickly.

The film will do around 16.50 crore nett business in its first week and with Ek Thi Daayan coming on Friday it will see a big fall on Friday.

The film was taken by Waves Group for all India at around 12.50 crore but the weekday trend suggests that the share of the film does not look like going much higher than 10 crore meaning a 20% approx loss for the all India distributor and that too at a fairly low price.

  • What success??? Oh Rohan you are a big disappointment to the Sippy dynasty. Papa made ‘Sholay’ and you made farcical ‘Dum Maro Dum’ with the inept baby Bachchan. Seems like the unsuccessful sons of famous baaps will stay together forever.

  • @ Navin… to whom u r making a point as Baby Bachan, is much more popular than your whole family starting from you fore fathers :P so better dnt show ur level…

  • @Rishi you can add your family and ancestors alongside my family too. I too have never heard of your ancestors but atleast my mother knew who my father was…! :-)

I dont like bringing familys into debates but be warned Im quite willing to accept ridicule of my family because I can give back more than I take. You can try me but you will regret it, I can guarantee you that.
