Actor Salman Khan, who has been locking Eid for the past four years to release his films, won’t have any outing this year. The superstar’s younger brother Arbaaz says there are plenty of interesting dates to choose from and no need to do a rush job on “Mental”.
Since 2009, every year Salman had a release on Eid. It started with “Wanted”, followed by “Dabangg” in 2010, “Bodyguard” in 2011, and 2012 spy thriller “Ek Tha Tiger”. Interestingly, all of them turned out to be box office blockbusters.
This year Eid is on Aug 8 and Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar are set to lock horns at the box office as their films “Chennai Express” and “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again”, respectively, are being readied for the festival release.
“I am presuming that they (fans) would have liked to release “Mental” on Eid. It’s not that they have not thought about it, but the practicality of coming on Eid may have been an issue. For his (Salman’s) film to come on Eid, he should have started as early as January. But they started sometime in March. So it became difficult,” Arbaaz told IANS.
Arbaaz, who turned to direction with “Dabangg 2” that starred his brother Salman, says it is not advisable to make a film hastily.
“There is no need to do a rush job on any film. The stakes are too high, the expectations are too high. So, no need to get fixated because a Salman Khan-starrer is a Salman Khan-starrer. You may miss one day in a year, but there is at least four or five dates which are equally exciting. So you can pick and choose those dates and make that into an event,” added the 45-year-old.
Salman is currently shooting for “Mental” and the action-drama is being directed by his youngest brother Sohail.
Although it is sad no Salman movie this EID but no issue next year whenever release it will be a carnival.

Well said, no need to rush to release biggest holidays spot, and if sohail khan manages to release somehow then 3 movies clash on a same day which would be very interesting for audience and Bollywood but individually producers will have to be suffer
All 3 movies will may bombed at the box office but we can see who is biggest star in country by taking first day collection bcoz star power only judged by first day numbers

The best possible date could be either in September 2nd week, as no other films are releasing during this period till 2nd October.
Other option is beetween November 15 to December 1st week, as no major films are releasing.
I guess a date in between any of the two options is likely.
In the article ”akshay vs salman on eid 2013????” which was published around 8 months ago. I clearly told that they will not clash. And now its confirmed bcoz they are frendz.

Sad for bhai jaan fans but chennai express is releasing this eid. I hope sallu fans support ce beacause ce is not officially confirmed for eid as no release date confirmed for mental. Some sources say mental is not release this yeas beacause of bhai jaan health issu. But ekta wants clash ouatim2 with any films in eid, as mental is not releasing on eid, ce release this eid. And this year i hope ce doing well like every year salman film doing well in eid.
Finally a 2013 will be clean crap free year

Im glad Mental is going to be done properly which is something I cannot say about Chennai Depress. No doubt buddha srk has his eyes lit up and must be thinking he can finally have an Eid release but hold on 1 second. OUATIMA is going to arrive on Eid and Im convinced Milan will ensure the film sustains well and doesnt fizzle out. Akshay will guarantee a good initial and Milan will ensure the film holds up well so Eid will be saved by them. Srk has destroyed Diwali these past few years but thank god Akshay is here to save Eid from Srks torturous, soul tormenting, spirit destroying, sheepish laughter, goatisg gibberish speech talking and crapgiri acting.

@romance express If you guys need help in filling up theatres up and down the country then everyone of you should make a phone call to the overseas armies of Srkians, theres about 3.5 billion of them living in overseas territories. You can tell them to send extra money to families/ long distance relatives in India and request them to watch Chennai Depress in theatres on their behalf…! :-)

If that fails then form an alliance with the fans of the only actor you peaceful lot havent offended and together you guys can rule Indian theatres for 4 maybe 5 days…! Im sure the kegions of Shreyas Talpade fans known as Talpadians will gladly come to your aid…! ;-)

But surprise surprise, Salman movies are super hits, means people loving it and that too since last 5 years.

Be honest now, that was what you were thinking and that brought upon your headache. Either that or you were amazed at the loud clapping, over exuberant cheering and rhythmic seetis that were going of inside a theatre during bhais film screening because during a Srk film screening there is mostly silence. You know that you can hear more noise in a cemetary than during his movies. The only possible sounds eminating from srks movies are either Snoozing from 50% of the audience being asleep or the other half stampeding their way out of the screening before the interval…! :-P

well,,i also watched ett and enjoyed it as well.because when salman is there,,entertainment will be there.as navin said,,the loud clappings and seetis were going for full 2 and half hours in the film.let me tell you honestly,,i go to watch salman movies for only to hear seetis,,clappings on his each and every dialogues which makes me think that this is paisa vasool movie.
do you know the difference between salman and srk???they both were doing family dramas and romantic movies in 90s and early 2000s,,but after that salman smartly moved to entertaining movies(some calls it masala movies),,but poor srk could not do it and still struck to the same old ghisa pita romantic movies.now he is also trying it with chennai depress following salman and akshay.
