Ready Box Office Prediction

With few hours to go before the release of Salman Khan’s Ready, we have the box office prediction for the film.

The target for Dabangg last year was 13 crores nett, a record set by 3 Idiots on Day 1. Not many expected the film to come close to 3 Idiots, let alone beat it by more than 10%. Dabangg enjoyed a stupendous run and finally ended its box office run in India at 145 crores, second biggest grosser ever after 3 Idiots!

This time around for Salman, the target would be his own last film, which netted Rs 14.5 crores on its first Friday. Can Ready come close? It most likely will, because Ready is the first big release in a long long time and that too after a exhausting cricket season. Indian audience are desperate for a big Bollywood masala entertainer and the makers of Ready, couldn’t have timed the release better.

Ready Box office Predictions

IF GOOD (positive word-of-mouth)

  • Weekend – 38 crores+
  • Weekdays – 20 crores
  • Week 1 Total – 58 crores
  • Final – 110 to 120 crores

IF AVERAGE (mixed word-of-mouth)

  • Weekend – 33 crores
  • Weekdays – 12 crores
  • Week 1 Total – 45 crores
  • Final – 70 to 75 crores

IF BAD (negative word-of-mouth)

  • Weekend – 28 crores
  • Weekdays – 10 crores
  • Week 1 Total – 38 crores
  • Final – 50 to 55 crores

Yes, we believe even in the worst case scenario (like was the case with Kites), Ready will surpass the 50 crore mark. But to beat the final nett of Dabangg, Ready would have to be an outstanding film with great repeat value. Not saying Dabangg was an outstanding film, but it was a true masala entertainer and Ready is unlikely to have the same mass appeal.

Remember, these are just predictions and absolutely noone can accurately predict a film’s box office fate. What do you think? Tell us in the comments section below.

In 1993, Khan won acclaim for his performances in villainous roles as an obsessive lover and a murderer, respectively, in the box office hits, Darr and Baazigar.[25] In Khan’s entry in Encyclopedia Britannica’s “Encyclopedia of Hindi Cinema” it was stated that “he defied the image of the conventional hero in both these films and created his own version of the revisionist hero.”[26] Darr marked his first collaboration with renowned film-maker Yash Chopra and his banner Yash Raj Films, the largest production company in Bollywood. Baazigar, which saw Khan portraying an ambiguous avenger who murders his girlfriend, shocked its Indian audience with an unexpected violation of the standard Bollywood formula.[27] His performance won him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award
