Ranbir Kapoor – Vidya Balan win Filmfare Best Actor Awards

Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan walked away with the top acting honours at the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards, held at the Yashraj Studios in Mumbai on Sunday.

Ranbir won the Best Actor award for his acclaimed performance in Barfi, his second in a row, as the actor also bagged the Best Actor trophy last year for his Rockstar act.

Vidya Balan is quickly making a habit of winning the Best Actress in a leading role category. It was her 4th back-to-back Filmfare Best Actress award – Paa (2010), Ishqiya (critics 2011), The Dirty Picture (2012) and Kahaani (2013).

The Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor and Actress went to Irrfan Khan for Paan Singh Tomar and Richa Chaddha for Gangs Of Wasseypur.

  • Vidya is todays most gifted and talented actress. She is comparable to a certain extent to the likes of yesteryear heroines like Madhuri, Shabana Azmi etc etc. Vidya is a deserved winner, Kahaani was awesome because of her so no arguements just plaudits for her. Well done Vidya.
As for Ranbir- most popular actor over Hrithik? Thats a joke but doesnt surprise me. Kapoor family have a huge clout over bollywood so they will just keep on promoting their own so he can go universal and win over both classes and masses. Filmfake Awards do themselves no favours on nights like this.

  • Vidya is now unstoppable! but I think that was her last year ;) hope we see another actresses. Tired of seeing her.

She is a nice actress, but I don’t like her as a person. I don’t know why but … she totally deserved the award. But I hope it is her last award.

Ranbir!!! you rocked man!! totally rocked. You’re definitely next SRK who will get so many awards, overseas love… But remember, you can’t be next SK. Because SK is unique :D

  • I was following this award from quite a few years along with National awards, but if these are the results of Filmfare Awards 2013 then I have lost my faith on this award function. I remember once these awards were used to be ‘fair’.
First of all, Ranbir acted well in Barfi, there is no denying on that but it was not ‘that’ good and it wasn’t the first time who played the role of a deaf and dumb person so it shouldn’t be the reason for him to get the Best Acror award, I, like many, think that Hrithik Roshan was the deserving one to get the award for his brilliant performance for Agneepath, his acting was superb, his dialogue delivery, expressions, intensity and love in eyes, it was a great performance in my opinion.
I am not saying that Ranbir didn’t act well but he wasn’t worthy to win this award this year.
Congratulations to Irrfan Khan, he truly deserved Critics Award for Best Actor.

  • Hrithik Roshan was deserving one for Best Actor award. I don’t know why Filmfare didn’t give him this award? This year’s filmfare awards are not looking fair.

  • ranbir is deserving but not vidya… instead pc for barfi or sri for ev should hve got it…. vidya is making all the awards organisers happy every year by all means…nd plzzz gve me a break for best supporting actress to rich for gow….. yaak.. who is she??? nd i am sure she must hve nt acted better than pc or sridevi… damn you filmfare….. go to hell

  • This is unacceptable..hrithik was more deserving than Ranbir… i won’t agree with filmfare..

@indicine, to he honest, don’t you think hrithik was more deserving than ranbir??

It makes me hate these kinds of awards…

  • to all stop whinning about hrithik not winning. honest ask yourself which performance was best ranbir’s or hrithik. no dout hritik gave good performance in agneepath but ranbir out classed everybody except for irfan khan because in my opinion this is the rating for me this year

1 irfan for paan singh tomar
    2 ranbir for barfi
    3 nawaazuddin for GOW
    4 aamir talaash/ hrithik agneepath
    5 Salman for dabangg
6 srk, akki and ajay for their movies

irfan’s preformance was by far best of the year, followed by hrithik’s

no offense against hrithik fans but this situation is similar to 2004 awards where hritik won best for koi mil gaya but salman gave best performance of the year in form of radhe in which similarly emotion types of role as hrithik played in agneepath, and on the other hand hrithik childish personality role was similar to ranbir’s barfi role. it would be fair to ranbir if his class barfi performance will be compared to hrithik’s in koi mil gaya.

now hrithik fans please ask youself if ranbir is not a fair winner this year then you would believe that hrithik wasnt the deserving winner in 2004 and salman was robbed after giving the best performance of his career. i am total satisfied winners list and ranbir deserverd it. happy that srk didnt win single award this year.

  • @manish. Ya, mostly agree with you except that hrithik thing. Hrithik showed tremendous intensity as vijay in agneepath and should have won it instead of ranbir. I can visualise hrithik doing the role of murphy barfi as good as ranbir but cant see ranbir enacting the role of vijay as intensely as hrithik. Anyway congratulations to all the winners and heart broken commiserations to srk and his fans. (did the bargaining fail)?

  • @manish Kudos for bringing up the 2004 fiasco again as that really still irks me too. Agree with you on that. But I have to say that 2 wrongs dont make a right!!! Look I think we all know that juries and Award organisers do not act rationally and thus have no logic or consistency on a yearly basis. They make up a list of winners in the build up of these shows and sell to the highest bidder. Ranbir with his familys clout brings more to the table today so he can dictate his terms to organisers like SRK and YRF have done for 15-20 years.
In relation to your point, to a degree I do believe Ranbir did a good job in Barfi. This is on the basis that he did everything the director wanted of him. An actor has to act so main job is to do that. Yes the film was a blatant copy of so many historical movies of Hollywood but that shouldnt detract anything from Ranbir.
But you to have to admit that Enacting a role made iconic by Big B and with such huge expectations was the tougher task and Hrithik pulled it off with finesse. Marvellous job in living upto expectations by Hrithik so he was deserving in that sense. Other actors who have reenacted iconic roles have fallen miserably short in the past. SRK in Don remake went completely overboard and was quite irritating in the way he wanted to be ultra cooler than BIG B. Even SRKs Devdas portrayal was below par because Dilip Sahb embodied the soul of Devdas to perfection. Hrithik has been cheated but he may not care as he and we know that he did a marvelloys job in Agneepath so that should mean more than a corrupted award.

  • @NVS lol at your SRK comment. Poor SRK spent all his money in getting the Golden Khela and Ghanta awards for Best Actor (sorry Worst) that he forgot about submitting his tendor for the Filmfake Awards. The younger and more astute Ranbir got in first and sealed his Award weeks earlier. Poor SRK fans got nothing to cheer about but dont worry as Ghanta ceremony is coming up soon. Lolz

  • @navin. Srk bought the GOLDEN KHELA award thinking that it will be a 2kg gold banana trophy worth 63 lakhs and since he paid only 10 lakhs for it, he will earn a profit of 53 lakhs with which he could buy the more costly awards like the filmfare etc but when he found out that the golden khela is not really made of gold, he just sneezed and when srk sneezes his so called 3.2 billion fans catch cold.

  • @NVS hahahaha

Bro so true. But dude we dont want to offend any SRK fans out there like that loony ‘xzone’ coz SRKians Worldwide count now actually stands at 3.5 Billion… Those extra 300 million SRKians would no doubt mean that SRKs nect release ‘Chennai Depress’ should be able to do the unthinkable and now join the 120 cr net club in India. Maybe with abit of Divine intervention also break Readys 3 yr old record of 123 cr net. :-P
Come on SRKians instead of talking a good talk go out there and watch another mindless masala flick by Rohit Shetty and SRKs shivering kkkkkkkkiran act all over again for 3 loooonnnggg hours. You guys can do it!!!

  • @NVS

When SRK sneezes his fans catch a cold.

When SRK goes into a coma and loses ten years of his life, SRKians watch this and fall asleep inside cinema halls worldwide and lose around 3 hours of memory and when they are awoken they realise they have been robbed of around 300 rupees for the pleasure :-)

  • You all should really stop whining about how the Filmfare is bias and all that crap. Just because your favorite didn’t win the award DOES NOT mean the awards are fake or bias. What proof do you have in saying the Kapoors have a clout over these awards which is why Ranbir won this second year in a row.

This year’s awards are fair to say the least. Ranbir’s performance was certainly the best of his career. Even better than Rockstar. He so successfully managed to create such a likable and loving character out of a deaf and mute. We cheered and clapped for him despite the fact that he doesn’t even speak a word. It was incredibly nuanced and mature performance from Ranbir’s part. Having said that, I personally thought Manoj Bajpai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Irrfan Khan were better than Ranbir. But alas, Ranbir won. I would have been even more happy if Bajpai had won, but he didn’t. That doesn’t mean Ranbir is undeserving and that Filmfare’s choice is wrong? Out of the six men, only one can win, other five will lose. And that I think that is fair. Now if SRK had won for his performance is JTHJ, I would have cried foul because there were 4 (Bajpai, Roshan, Kapoor, Irrfan) clear better performances than his.

Now to Vidya, she only proves yet again why she is above all the other female stars of Bollywood today. She is the only lead female star to have commandeered three films with her being the main focus, and without a male hero (Ishqiya, Dirty Picture, Kahaani) And all three were commercially and critically acclaimed. Kahaani was a great film (much better than Barfi! imo, should have won Best Film too) I am soooo pleased that Sujoy Gosh won Director. They could not give the award to the copy-cat Anurag Basu, and thankfully they didn’t.

  • ranbir , vidya r very well deserved for this.. I can say that hrithik too deserved for the trophy hebut when compared to ranbir in barfi definitely ranbir is 10% more deserving than hrithik.. if you compare the performance of performances of next years winners I.e farhan akhtar for bhag milkha bhag n shahid for haider clearly hrithik is best.. if agneepath would hv releasd in eithr 2013 r 2014 then hrithik is d winner for sure.. but as far as 2012 is concerned the best performance is irrfan khan for paan singh tomar And ranbir for barfi . ranbir and irrfan are equally deserving
