Ranbir Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali, A R Rahman to work together again!

After the moderately successful Rockstar last year, actor Ranbir Kapoor, director Imtiaz Ali and music composer A R Rahman, are set to work together in another film.

The movie will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the director of ‘KICK’. Says a source close to the film ”Initially, Nadiadwala roped in Ranbir and Imtiaz for a sequel to ‘Rockstar’. However, neither the actor nor the director was enthused by the idea of leaping into angst-laden journey of the traumatised musician again, at least not at the moment. They suggested a completely antithetical film to Rockstar”

The upcoming film is likely to be a fun comedy ”They needed to get away from the gloom of ‘Rockstar’. This time it’s an out and out fun film. And Ranbir-Imtiaz have coaxed A.R. Rahman to join the fun”

Apparently, Rahman had decided to complete the songs of only one other Hindi film, Anand Rai’s Raanjhanaa, before heading back to Los Angeles (USA). But Ranbir and Imtiaz convinced Rahman to join them on the new project, which will go on floors early next year.

“Sajid Nadiadwala will first start the film starring Tiger Shroff in October and then ‘Two States with Arjun Kapoor in December. Leading ladies for the films are yet to be finalized. Then Sajid moves to the Ranbir-Imtiaz-Rahman project” said the source.

Nargis Fakhri, who was slammed by the critics for her performance in ‘Rockstar’, has been left out of the new project. Anushka Sharma or Katrina Kaif are likely to be cast.

  • all three working together sounds like if they had produced biggest hits together. rockstar was very boring movie to be honest the only good part was ranbir’s acting nothing else. so i GUESS nobody cares if thry work together. also imitiaz direction skill lacked in rockstar and in interview he rudely said that he not going to work with anyone else ranbir now that strategy is going to sink his career really quickly

  • Me too didn’t like rockstar. But this sounds good. Out n out comedy movie;hope it’ll be as good as or better than jab we met. Have seen Ranbir n Kat before. Would lot t see him with Anushka.

  • @Ranbir fans, what are your expectations from Barfi? Will it get good opening like rockstar? Will it become commercially successfully.

  • I wish they make another film like rockstar.Ranbir is going in right direction and rockstar was a great movie. He can do comercial movie whenever he want but this is the time make base.

  • I think ranbir is doing more experimental and inovative movie then our some top stars. Before rockstar i didnt like ranbir but rockstar changed it.

  • Rockstar was a Flop at Box Office but Ranbir’s Strong PR called it hit, n even said Ranbir is Superstar, Bigger than Khans..etc etc.. Same thing happened to Abhishek’s Bluffmaster in 2005….These star kids career is nothing but just a PR overdrive.

  • Imtiaz ali is detoriating . His best Movie was Socha na Tha n worst is Rockstar. So not interested in the movie. Also Leaving Ghajini, Jodha Akbar n Enthiran, none of AR rahman movie has clicked at BoxOffice.

  • @metal head, that guy is not me, he is some stupid looser who is acting like a baby using my name.
    Ar Rahman rocks!!! I am big fan if him and ranbir as well.

    @duplicate marz, go to hell!!

  • Honestly Rockstar was really boring film. Film and everything was too hyped up. Seemed like Rockstar was to make Ranbir big. Ranbir is a good actor but there is too much hype about him. His best work was ‘Rocket Singh…’ Rockstar was a one man show of Ranbir and I feel it was intentional. This whole movie worked mainly because of music of AR Rahemaan. Imtiaz surely failed as a RockStar’s Director. Movie is good when all other characters also work and audience remember them. Here it’s just Ranbir. Make all other characters weak so main character looks stronger and everyone feel wow ‘kya acting hai’. I liked Imtiaz only upto JWM, LAK was ok and Rockstar was worst.

    If Imtiaz only wants to work with Ranbir then it is his loss, because no one is indispensable.
    They are trying to make a movie like ‘Cocktail’. Imtiaz must have felt bad for not directing it. haha….
