After the moderately successful Rockstar last year, actor Ranbir Kapoor, director Imtiaz Ali and music composer A R Rahman, are set to work together in another film.
The movie will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the director of ‘KICK’. Says a source close to the film ”Initially, Nadiadwala roped in Ranbir and Imtiaz for a sequel to ‘Rockstar’. However, neither the actor nor the director was enthused by the idea of leaping into angst-laden journey of the traumatised musician again, at least not at the moment. They suggested a completely antithetical film to Rockstar”
The upcoming film is likely to be a fun comedy ”They needed to get away from the gloom of ‘Rockstar’. This time it’s an out and out fun film. And Ranbir-Imtiaz have coaxed A.R. Rahman to join the fun”
Apparently, Rahman had decided to complete the songs of only one other Hindi film, Anand Rai’s Raanjhanaa, before heading back to Los Angeles (USA). But Ranbir and Imtiaz convinced Rahman to join them on the new project, which will go on floors early next year.
“Sajid Nadiadwala will first start the film starring Tiger Shroff in October and then ‘Two States with Arjun Kapoor in December. Leading ladies for the films are yet to be finalized. Then Sajid moves to the Ranbir-Imtiaz-Rahman project” said the source.
Nargis Fakhri, who was slammed by the critics for her performance in ‘Rockstar’, has been left out of the new project. Anushka Sharma or Katrina Kaif are likely to be cast.
