Rajinikanth completes first schedule of ‘Kaala’

Tamil megastar Rajinikanth has completed the Mumbai schedule of his upcoming gangster-film ‘Kaala’, where he plays the leader of Mumbai’s Dharavi slums.

“Rajini sir has completed his portion and is expected to return to Chennai this week. He shot non-stop over the last two weeks. The rest of the team will shoot for another week” a source close to the film, said.

The second schedule of the Pa. Ranjith directed film will be shot in Chennai, for which a specially created set that looks exactly like Dharavi has been erected. The reason was filming in Dharavi proved to be difficult for the cast and crew of the film.

“Rajini sir plays a slum lord. Originally, the plan was to shoot in real Dharavi, but we realised it would be impossible. Hence, an exhaustive set was built in Chennai to shoot major portion of the film” the source added.

‘Kaala’ also stars Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Anjali Patil, Samuthirakani and Pankaj Tripathi. Dhanush is producing the film, there are reports that he makes a special appearance.

  • This movie looks interesting . At this age it will be great to see Rajini Sir doing few movies with substance and those which are performance oriented . It will be treat for fans to see Rajini and Nana Patekar in a single frame . I hope Pa Ranjith does a solid turnaround with Kaala Karikaalan because Kabali was a mediocre film as per the audience response and reviews .
