It’s official. Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, which was first announced for Eid in February last year, has moved out of the lucrative festive weekend. Salman Khan’s Sultan will now get a solo release during what happens to be his most successful release period.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed the news of Raees getting postponed.
“It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that our movie is highly anticipated. However, a film of such magnitude requires appropriate showcasing. Therefore, we have decided to shift our release date” Sidhwani said.
Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Raees has been indefinitely postponed to a later date.

- December 2015: A lot is riding on the Bajirao Mastani vs Dilwale clash. Shah Rukh Khan is the king of clashes, no one (media and trade) gives Bajirao Mastani and Sanjay Leela Bhansali a chance. They all know what happened to SLB the last time he decided to take on SRK.
- December 21 2015: With content overpowering superstardom, Bajirao Mastani betters Dilwale at the domestic box office. This sends shockwaves in the industry, yet again. Rumours of Raees moving out of Eid get stronger in the trade.

- April 2016: Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN releases in theatres, opens well but crashes on Monday. Finishes with lifetime domestic business of less than 85 crore. The failure of the film once again sends shockwaves. Trade wants Sultan for Eid, exhibitors at mass centres firmly in favour of the Salman Khan starrer too. Worst is about the happen to RAEES. JANUARY is very bad release time. RAEES dont have republic day content. If it clashes with much much fresh KAABIL with strong lead actress in Karishma or Katrina. RAEES may not eve get to 100 Cr.
Clashing and earning 170 Cr with monster like SULTAN is much better than clashing and earning 100 Cr with minnow like KAABIL in 2017.

I don’t and never liked SRK films the only ones I ever watch was those with Salman. Now I don’t hate the man just don’t like what he stands for and I knew it was just a matter of time.
What saddens me however is his fans reaction to the postponement of the film, the disloyalty being shown you say you love SRK yet you are ready to desert him because he made a wise business decision. This tells me your love for him is fickle because you are only interested in Bo numbers and not him.

Please look at the articles below for confirmation. Suktan was announced for Eid way before Raees. Raees was announced for Eid in Feb 2015 while sultan was announced for Eid 2016 in October 2014. I will not watch raees in theaters .. highly disappointed. now that they have postponed it only goes on to show that SRK is no longer a mega star. he will not get any holiday release in future for sure. if at he gets any it will clash with some other biggie who will eventually win the clash. Forget Raees, even Gauri Shinde, Aanand Rai and Imtiaz Ali films don’t have any release dates now. And if ur Global King doesn’t hurry, even the the remaining 2 national holidays next year might be taken by Akshay Kumar’s Kaththi remake and Ajay Devgn’s Sons of Sardaar or some Varun Dhawan film.
Now only 2 options for Global King:
1) Release his films with Sunny Leone films, Great Grand Masti or Tusshar Kapoor films
Or
2) Release them on Mars(as some of his fans always says that SRK has fans everywhere)
