If we go by their logic than Ra.one and jai ho should also be considered disasters because jai ho was released in 2014, while talaash released in 2012 with way more screens than talaash, way more ticket prices, republic day advantage, commercial genre and way bigger budget but still earned little more than talaash, same goes for Ra.one as it was the most expensive film of that time and its budget was much bigger than talaash, released in diwali period, too much promotions, and out and our commercial genre, still earned little more than talaash.
