Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has underperformed at the box office on Sunday, which is a worrying sign for a film that performed well in its first 3 days. The Sunday business is set to be around 5% lower than Saturday. Most circuits have been steady, but the big jump in business, which you expect on a big holiday like Sunday has been missing.
The Hindi version of PRDP had collected Rs 101.47 crore in its first 3 days. The Sunday business should take the total to around the 130 crore mark.
Monday will now be a big test for the film. Last year, Happy New Year collected Rs 15 crore on its first weekday (4th day after release) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs 21 crore on its first non-holiday weekday (5th day after release).
For PRDP, 20 crore plus on Monday would be excellent, but that looks impossible now looking at the way the film has performed on Sunday. A 15 crore Monday would be fairly good too, something that should also ensure that the film would comfortably cross the 200 crore mark at the box office.
But if business happens to fall below the 13 crore mark, then PRDP might struggle to do well in the long run.
The response to the film has been mixed. Youth have rejected the film, but the family audience, especially middle-aged women, have come out in big numbers to watch the Sooraj Barjatya family drama.

Delhi and east punjab are not doing well so it will find difficult to sustain in a long run. These are the key belt for movie after weekend. Twmr and bb did really well after weekend in these belt that is why it was steady in week. Look like it will wrap around 190-210cr.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is set for its worst day on Sunday as it found it tough going with business expected to fall. The best case scenario will be collections likely to come out the same as Saturday but its more likely that collections are around 26 crore nett which would mean a four day weekend of around 122.50 crore nett. Its a huge number and ensures a hit film but no growth on Sunday means sustaining at good levels may be hard on weekdays
The damage is being done in Delhi city and East Punjab as the collections drop in the area again. At Saturday levels you would have expected good growth in these areas but it seems that this belt has rejected the film. The fear will be if these markets crash on Monday then the film may fold up pretty quickly.
The scenario is totally different in UP which is also a part of North India as it has all time record collections even beating Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Its similar situation in Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Gujarat / Saurashtra, Bihar and Maharashtra. The all India number is huge but the territorial business ranges from blockbuster to hit to average and the areas where it is average carry a lot of weight in the long run.
