Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has underperformed at the box office on Sunday, which is a worrying sign for a film that performed well in its first 3 days. The Sunday business is set to be around 5% lower than Saturday. Most circuits have been steady, but the big jump in business, which you expect on a big holiday like Sunday has been missing.
The Hindi version of PRDP had collected Rs 101.47 crore in its first 3 days. The Sunday business should take the total to around the 130 crore mark.
Monday will now be a big test for the film. Last year, Happy New Year collected Rs 15 crore on its first weekday (4th day after release) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs 21 crore on its first non-holiday weekday (5th day after release).
For PRDP, 20 crore plus on Monday would be excellent, but that looks impossible now looking at the way the film has performed on Sunday. A 15 crore Monday would be fairly good too, something that should also ensure that the film would comfortably cross the 200 crore mark at the box office.
But if business happens to fall below the 13 crore mark, then PRDP might struggle to do well in the long run.
The response to the film has been mixed. Youth have rejected the film, but the family audience, especially middle-aged women, have come out in big numbers to watch the Sooraj Barjatya family drama.

But for Salman films, they don’t use BoxOfficeIndia.
According to BOI, PRDP’s Thu-Sun is 122.5cr.
Either use BOI for both or for no one. Don’t be a hypocrite.
PRDP is looking at 210-220cr going by producer’s figures and 180-200cr according to BOI figures. Chennai Express did better despite an Akshay starrer in weekend 2 and 2013 ticket prices.
HNY disappointed with 205-210cr in 2014. PRDP is on track to join HNY as a big grossing disappointment.

Agreed Diwali and independence day release are smaller than Eid and xmas. Let’s look at some superstars whose release on holiday periods paid more from lucrative holiday to lesser holiday(Diwali/independence day). Let’s see how they utilized them.
1. Akki no single 100 crs in any holiday given opportunities. Couldn’t utilize them be it independence or xmas(tees maar khan).
2. Hritik 3 100 crs he utilized Eid and xmas holiday which are the lucrative holidays. The other non holiday.
3. Aamir 4 100 crs. All xmas releases.Very easy for him having best lucrative holiday.
4. Salman 9 100 crs out of which 75% were also lucrative holidays. So has to be easy based on 2 of best lucrative festive to release movies.
5. Srk 5 100 crs now it’s from Srk that shows with lesser lucrative holidays vhe still managed to utilize all of them very well. 4 Diwali releases which is not comparable to xmas and eid so big time kudos. One of the Diwali even included a massive clash but he still sailed through with ease. Note Srk 100 crs were all on a less lucrative festive period compared to the other khans! Bravo!
6. Ajay Devgn 5 100 crs ironically suprise story of all. 2 non hols releases but given the opportunity of 2 lesser lucrative festive period ie 1 Independence and 2 diwalis that too with clash with almighty king khan! ,still he was able to utilize all his lesser lucrative festive release with 100% 100 crs. Golmaal 3 Diwali, Sos with clash Diwali and then Singham returns on independence making him taking advantage of all lesser hols releases and making sure all crossed 100 crs and the reward justifies he has 2 diwali release next 2years. Another bravo to arguably the most underrated superstars among the rest.
Inference: Shah Rukh and Ajay with lower lucrative releases still utilized all of them effectively. So imo it’s Srk and ajay with good wom can deliver any given holiday since they have not failed in any this decade.
So let’s imagine Both having an xmas release imagine what their output would be that’s why Srk is going to storm box office this xmas in a grande way! Tell Aamir or Salman to release their movies on lesser Diwali or independence day!
Hence Salman and Aamir are wise that’s why they always neglect Independence and Diwali for more lucrative Xmas and Eid and think they are smart!
